Hi guys, I am Terence

Usually I ask people to build my computer and do everything for me but I have decided to try myself once. Good news is that it works. Everything is running perfectly and I am not sure if my temperature is okay or not since my friends tell me it is not alright and Google gave me many different answer. I am worried that I may have screwed up with thermal paste because I put a pea sized amount but slightly smaller than what i watch on few youtube tutorials. Hence it did not cover the whole CPU

My country (Malaysia) temperature here is 37c, humidity 89%. I do not have an air conditioner in my room.
My Idle temperature based on my bios is 36.5 - 37.7

My computer spec are listed as below:

Asrock motherboard Fatality b85 killer
Intel Core i5-4460 CPU @ 3.2GHz
RAM 4gb x 2 - 1333mhz
GPU GeForce GTX 650
1SSD and 1HDD
Heatsink Cyorig H7 - Running on Peformance mode.
Case - Phantom 410 - With 2 stock 120mm (Front (Intake) and back(Exhaust)) 1 140mm top (exhaust)
Since friend told me it is not alright, I added 1more 140mm top (exhaust) corsair 1200rpm, 1 front 120mm 1550rpm and 120mm bottom 1550 rpm both intake.
I am not planning to over clock or sli but might upgrade to gtx980TI.

This is the sceenshot of my stress test after 1 hour.
http://gyazo.com/c19426e73a94e63213fe19c77279e84c

After 3 hours of stress test the temp is at
http://gyazo.com/c033f3aeba8cac3309ed0d079ac77d3f

I hope the provided information is sufficient and I thank you all in advance for spending your precious time on reading this.

Thank you.

PS. My google chrome always shows not responding, especially when I go on youtube or show deadjim. deleted cookies etc all. installed & uninstalled adobe, disabled and enable plug in adobe, no extension, installed and reinstalled chrome, reformatted. Only chrome and no problem with other browser. Any idea whats wrong too?

You temperatures are great considering the ambient temperatures and humidity. This is not wonder since that huge Cyorig H7 heatsink is used for 60W CPU at stock clocks and GPU is also low powered so it doesn't heats up the case additionally. Things will change when 980 Ti starts dumping heat into the case, but with all the ventilation you mentioned, you are ready for that IMO.

Thank you for the reply, but can I ask how do i check my load temperature? Sorry I am a noob.

If you mean when my cpu is running at 100% then the temperature is about can go as high as 61c Max (havent seen any higher and can be found on the pic link above btm right corner) as for now during my 3 hours of stress test with Prime 95.

nope.

question @Terence what driver you use for your nvidia card...?
i also use chrome and have 0 issue (but i use the only nvidia driver that isn't a bug ridden BS 347.88)

temps are normal (the Cryorigs R7 is a awesome heatsink, you should not worry about that unless you fixed it wrong or the thermal past is not evenly spread)

you could also get a 980 instead of a 980Ti ... those are still quite the beast, eat less watts and are quite a bit cooler (and still pack a lot of grunt)

Thank you so much for the help, when I am upgrading to 980TI ill monitor my temp more and I guess I need get more fans. Any advice to get a better cooling after installing 980TI?

you don't need to

the question about chrome stability and nvidia driver is a bit more important ... (btw a stress testing while monitoring temps at 100% load is a load temp test ... )
as the 9XX serie seems to like the driver 347.88 a bit more, so specially if you switch from a 650 to a 980/980Ti.

Thank you so much for the help, when I am upgrading to 980TI ill monitor my temp more and I guess I need get more fans. Any advice to get a better cooling after installing 980TI?
stop worrying on that ... your temp are max 61°C ? they are more than fine ... i have a 4690K and a 980 in my case and both of my WC rads draw air from outside to inside the only fan i have in intake and exhaust are 1 AF120 and 1 AF140

edit: use edit function instead of new reply ... tho

I was told that no1 get 980 and was recommended 980TI, so I am nt too sure but I will definitely get the 900 series. My nvidia driver is 353.30. The lastest one. As for the thermal paste put a pea sized but slightly lesser. It did not cover the whole cpu thou.

353.30 = chrome problem root ... chrome problem solved use the hotfix 353.38 or even better downgrade to 347.88

no worries ... and about the no one get a 980 ... well i did recently but it was because of a giveaway ... tho i wouldn't mind get a 980Ti Poseidon Platinum, now that they are out

and from a 650 to a 980Ti it will be : a big "WOW" effect .... (even to a 980 tho but if you can afford or want a 980Ti go for the higher one ;) )

Well I am nt sure about the 980TI yet but I am looking forward to upgrade mine since my 650 is from my old PC. Well it depends on the currency. My country currency is weakening a lot against usd. So if it is cheap Ill definitely go for it. If i am really getting a 980TI i think Ill have to change to a faster RPM fan for the stock fan that come with the casing & PSU unit.

well i am alright with only 1 120 1 140 at 1600rpm~ since my 4 other fans are 4xSP120L 1800rpm on watercooling rads and push hot air inside the case, tho my mobo temp is 28° cpu around 47° in game (under a Raijintek Triton but you have no worries with a Cryorig heatsink pretty much a good damn value for the performances) and GPU 47° but the Poseidon is a hybride air-water (2x90mm fan + a 6mm waterpipe) so with your current setup you should be fine even with a Ti

Since you and few others above said so, I guess it will be find then. Otherwise, when I put in the 980Ti when problem arises only then Ill look for a solution by changing to watercooling or adding more fans.

Before spending money on a 980 or 980ti, what monitor do you use? What resolution do you run? What games do you play? No need spending equal to $500-600 USA dollars for a video card if a $300 video card can satisfactorily do the job. You don't need a 980 or 980ti if you are running 1080p resolution, the GTX 970 will be more than enough at half the price of the 980 cards.

My country (Malaysia) temperature here is 37c, humidity 89%. I do not have an air conditioner in my room.

How in the hell can someone that can afford a computer such as yours live in those temperatures? We see those the same conditions here in Virginia. I would be completely miserable and unable to be comfortable without air conditioning. Buy an air conditioner. You won't have to worry about your computer overheating, plus you yourself will be much more comfortable. You'll enjoy the AC a lot more than the 980ti.

I wanna play games like Arma 3, black dessert, the witcher those kind of games. I run on the highest resolution that I can, 27 inch monitor (asus ve378q). As for air conditioner, I have to open a hole on my wall to put in 1 so its bit too expensive here. Well, I have been living with this temperature for 20 years so I guess I got use to it but yea definitely investing on 1 soon, parents said that my room need 1 anyway.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
little note on the 1080P gaming ... : i use a 27" 1080p 60hz 1ms monitor ... and a 980 (can't stande the 970 even for the price ... too much trick's and deceit, albeit the performances being here ... but i also play a heavily modded skyrim, a 970 is not fit for it even at 1080p) and i use most of the time DSR (for example my FFXIV resolution is 2351x1323) there is no such word as overkill in pc gaming ... but depending the budget for your GPU a 970 might be fit ...

and a 970 is not half the price of a 980 (Ti maybe) but depending the pricing from one country to another ... mind you... if i wanted to buy a 980 i would pay the same price that you would for a 980Ti and a good custom 980Ti is near the price of a Titan X for me ... and a Titan X is ... well just overpriced as f*** (the ref Ti is more like a 100$ more than a 980 which mean 100$ more than your regular Ti price)

Well of the three games the OP listed, Black Desert doesn't look too demanding, but I can't find recomended hareware specs for it. Arma 3 recommended GPU is the GTX 660. The Witcher 3 is recommended for the GTX 770. So the 970 would be enough.

Ok, so it's $50 more than half the price of the least expensive 980. But also, compared to the ti, the 970 is $50 less than half the cost of the least expensive ti. But that is pricing here in the States. In Malaysia, it may be completely different.

Even friends with 980TI is only getting 45-50fps on arma 3 so I am nt too sure but if it works sure why not. I just want a good quality and good card so the next time i want to play some good games I can play =P
