I've just read the shocking, shocking news that since Microsoft started charging for Solitaire and Minesweeper on W8, it's still not free on W10! :eek:

You either have to put up with ads or pay a monthly subscription and apparently many enthusiasts are properly enraged by this and chucking their toys out of the pram!

I played through, and beat, a game of the new solitare.... it took me longer to actually FIND the game. "Klondike" wtf is that crap.... lol.... then the cards fly away like butterflies.... with sparkles.

I miss windows 95.

Just like Win8/8.1, I'll install the Win7 versions of the games. I like those much better than those App based crap ones.

Though, even if I was using the App based ones, I don't think the ads would be that intrusive.

I went with "I'd rather they didn't...", not that I play or use any of those games, just mainly as I'd rather not see ad supported content of any kind in a default OS install.

I still copy HyperTerminal over from an XP machine for every work machine I have, granted that was a licensed third party utility that they stopped licensing. I'm sure the same thing can be done for Minesweeper and Solitaire.

I find that those who think things should be free often find a way to make it so.

It's a way to nickel and dime their users. Sure, in principle they shouldn't be doing this, it's just I don't care for those programs. I tried them out years ago, but had no interest in them.

It bothers me...not throw stuff out the window mad. But I think this is M$ setting a paywall for the future. It was mentioned that this existed in windows 8 and I never noticed it. But how much longer before M$ starts throttling apps, or locking previously unlocked aspects of software or hardware. I don't like it and I think it is just the tip of the iceberg for what M$ has planned. A lot of people are already used to this P2W/P2P BS, especially on the mobile app front, and if you want extra features, that were already enabled but then locked down by a pay wall it is perceived as being acceptable. Me as an old school guy is not cool with it.
