GTX 970 - weird glitch in Far Cry 4

Hello mates!

I created similar thread in games section, but didn't get the answer, so will try here.

I would like to ask, do you have similar glitch as mine? This looks like weapon "ghost" or something like that.

Max settings, HBAO+, TXAAx2.
There is no problem with AA completely off, or with SMAA. Glitch only visible at water/river. On grass there is not visible.

Newest drivers, clean OS, game updated from Steam.

Its on right hand side. It looks like a very low wire frame of the gun "LOD" pointing off to the right of frame. Maybe a bug in shadows and water transparencies bring it out but too detailed for a shadow.

It is very annoying, trust me. I have no idea what could cause this glitch... everything is up to date. Even OS - all Windows Update patches installed.

I tried older GPU drivers, from 12.1014, but problem still exists.

I have played the game with a GTX970 not a problem, did you try to monitor temperatures of the card ? underclocking the GPU and vRAM by 100 Mhz ?

What monitor refresh rate are you running at? Anything above 60Hz? I've seen this happen before when contours appear on stupidly high framerates.

Then its clearly not a hardware issue.

I'll simply put it down to something that didnt go quite right during the port over to PC that was left in the game because the developers couldnt be arsed to go back and remove it. Some developers can be like this sadly.

Underclocked card by 100 MHz on GPU and 200 on memory - problem still occurs.

Reset your setting in Nvidia control panel. Try messing with the settings in game. If that doesn't work, reinstall the game.

If it's a Steam or Uplay bought game, have you tried verifying the game file cache, disabling the overlay, etc? You know, the usual DDL first checks.

i would bet money this is not hardware.

it is just a filter issue. that fact is proven by it going without the combo of filters running.

personally i would just run the ao anyway

So it seems, some software/settings are corrupted - not GPU drivers, as I tried older version, but maybe one of Windows Update patches or something like this...

I will try to completely reinstall this game, and maybe update some software like Visual C++ etc.

Also, will try newest beta drivers from Nvidia.

Will let you know about results as soon as possible.

Game reinstalled. Everything is up to date. Problem still occurs.

I have to wait for next GPU driver release/ Windows Update patch/ game update/ or something like that.

You have all NET Framework, Dx,and Visual Studio updates?

How about latest BIOS version on the MB too, and latest chipset driver? The 970s don't even run on certain MBs unless you BIOS update them.

Yes, all of these - updated. Chipset driver latest installed.

I have latest official stable BIOS on my mobo at this time - v3.30.

There is albo BETA bios from 12.2014 - v3.25.

Do you think, this glitch can be caused by MB bios?

EDIT: Tried BETA Bios, but problem still occurs. Returning to stable 3.30 now.
