Or Valve could cheap out by making it look and run exactly like HL2 with those 2004 graphics and fob it off as the "retro" or "classic" look.
I actually might prefer that...it would feel more HL-ish.
I don't know guys I'm ready for the next big thing which I think is vr. Valve has put a lot of time into VR.. But they have put a lot of time into consolizing steam with SteamOS and their new controller. Half Life 3 could just be a consolized mess and you only play it on a couch with a controller.. lol <------- I'm kidding, but it's not to far fetched. If it is vr then the controller will play a big part of it, but not only a controller. What I like about what Valve did for Half-life 2 vr was that your head movement didn't controller your aim. You still used a mouse to aim in the game and keyboard to move. The only thing I didn't like about it is if you moved your hands off the keyboard I had to pull my HMD up to see my hand placement and I'm really good with keyboards and not looking at them... But you have a since of where the keyboard is, but in VR you can loose your sense of direction fairly quick moving around a lot and in the heat of battle.. lol Now, you could set your aim as your head movement which works really well but in a really fast battle you could get whiplash!..lol
I like what
FOVE is doing for vr with eye tracking. That should be the best option. Just thing your head moved your field of view and your eyes aimed in that view. I wouldn't buy their hmd, but if they sold there tech to say Valve or Valve made there own take on it that would be great. In my opinion Valve's vr will be the one to have for gaming. I plan to get it over Oculus. I believe Oculus will nickel and dime there users to death with you want to watch a movie on your Oculus then here rent this movie or buy this app to do this with your Oculus. They say they won't but in reality it will come down to what ever the share holders want and I don't see it being, "
not make more money".
