I've silenced the new system case, but now I'm getting an INCREDIBLY annoying cycling resonating noise. It's like wrooom and some silence, wrooom and that's repeating. More annoying than listening fans at constant 2000 RPM...

Only thing that I hope is that it's not the pump on Antec 920. I'm not in the mood to change the cooling... Have to finish installing Windows 8.1 and then I'll stick finger in each fan and see if the cycling noise will stop. It's driving me insane. Only thing saving me from insanity is music louder than the noise...

Really you bought a CRT what on earth for
Hehe, yeah, but not just any old CRT. This is a 21" Sony Trintron G520 Flatscreen, which along with it's brother the 24" FW900 is arguably the best CRT monitor ever made.

The G520 cost $2200 new, but now people just give them away or use them as boat anchors.
I've been looking for one of these for months. Literally, months. :p

I prefer CRT IQ, sure the picture is not as sharp as digital, and obtaining 4 straight edges on the desktop display is the stuff of dreams, but I never got used to LCD colour representation. They just don't look right to me. to get an LCD panel which resembles CRT colour costs an arm and a leg.

Oh and also because I love that awesome "TNNNNG!" noise it makes when you hit the degauss button. :D

Just ordered these Enermax fans from Newegg since there is a 20% off sale with free shipping thru 8/16, the above are 18-19dBA, these Enermax are suppposedly 14dBA:

I have an Asus Strix GTX 970 and a really quiet Thermalright SB-E air cooler, the loudest thing are my case fans during regular surfing use.

Gonna try to see if these blingy fans make my system whisper quiet :)

Are there any double thickness 120mm fans with insane air pressure at very low RPM? I've seen everything from 15k RPM Delta's to futuristic shaped blades but I haven't ever seen a fan that is of double thickness of the usual 120mm fans that is focused on absolute air pressure at low RPM? Coz that would be useful in my case...

that depsends on where your focus is.

High air pressure and low RPM's dosent really mix at all.

Mabye the Akasa Viper PWM 120mm will work for you. Fanspeed between 600-1900. max.airflow 83.63CFM, noise level between 6.9-28.9 db.

Air PRESSURE, not airflow. Air pressure has more to do with blades shape and size than speed (though speed helps trap air and push it forward).

Or a blower fan that works similar as turbocharger turbine which can create quite some pressure though I'm not sure how it would be at lower speeds than at which turbines usually operate...

EDIT:
Wow, those Akasa Vipers indeed have high static pressure. Almost 3mm H2O at 28dB is pretty amazing.

so you want high pressure but low speed I think you might be asking for a miracle RejZoR you may get away with a fandapted 140mm > 120mm

or use one of these fans

Speed Q:500~1200rpm
P:500~2000rpm
Airflow 42.8~171 CFM

Just ordered 2x Enermax Twister Pressure fans. They seem silent enough with really good pressure. Gonna use them on Antec 920 radiator...

I'm targeting a low noise, decent cooling balance. I've checked tons of fans that target high pressure, but at the moment, these Enermax Twister Pressure seem the best, mostly because my current board doesn't support DC fan control (only PWM) for the CPU). I only have DC on chassis/Optional fans, but isn't automatic. Plus, the switch on the fan gives me option to change performance without the need to actually buy different fans. Which is actually a really decent thing to have.

If these won't work as expected, I'll give a try to SilverStone Air Penetrator, Corsair AP120 or Noiseblocker Bionic 120mm. Some are non-PWM which is a bit of an issue for current application but could be done...

low blade pitch = quiet ,lower static pressure
high blade-pitch = loud, more static pressure, more cfm ect ect
cfm is simply a measure of the VOLUME of air it can move
it is not a measurement of the air-speed of the air or the pressure of said air
and high static pressure requires a bigger motor so high pitched blades with a smaller motor are bad ...
now you can take a fan with a lower blade-pitch and spin it very fast but its not very efficient todo so ideally you want your fan blades to have the maximum pitch possible for a given motor output

Holy crap, got the Enermax Twister Pressure and these fans are indeed VERY good.

They are very quiet, in fact they become quieter when you restrict their intake (ie when placed on a grill or radiator which is opposite of what other fans do), they look good and the 3 speed switch is excellent. If you're unsure what fan speed to buy (even when reducing speed with controllers), you can't really be sure what to go for as far as RPM go). You can go to low and have too low airflow or you go too high and even speedd reduction doesn't make them silent enough. Here, you basically get 3 fans in 1 and then you decide on the fly what to use without sending fans back and buying new ones. Since silence is my priority, I've switched it to 500-1200 RPM mode (Ultra Silent) and plugged it to my case controller. For normal operation they are totally silent (at 5V and 7V). But even on 12V, they are reasonably quiet. Might plug them to Antec 920 directly since they are PWM, but I think this will be just fine.

And best part, even at these ridiculously low RPM's, they manage to keep OCCT torture (8 threads) below CPU throttling levels at 4,4GHz so that's really good considering how quiet they are while doing that. Apparently they deliver really high pressure even at low RPM just as advertised. And they aren't even all that expensive.

Enermax, good job!
