So I got around to trying Surround w/ SLI on my Crosshair IV Formula w/ Dual EVGA GTX 980 SC's.. It won't let me enable it.. I've tried different cable methods, etc. still no luck.

Anyone have any suggestions and able to get 3 monitor surround mode w/ SLI and these drivers?

To both NerdShowAndTell & atomdude, Hypersli no longer works, the latestest drivers it supports are 335.23 (or a revision close to this number), uninstall hypersli (re-run the hypersli installer and select 'uninstall', reboot your computer
before proceeding further).

-------------------------------------

Read through all my instructions first before starting!

*****If you have hypersli installed, run the hypersli installer and uninstall it and reboot your computer before proceeding!******

Hypersli doesn't support current nvidia drivers! That's why it doesn't work anymore...

1. Go to http://www.geforce.com/drivers, select your operating system and video board in the list, download the driver installer. If you already have 355.60 drivers installed, ignore
this step.

2. Download my patched drivers here:

Here's the download links for the patched 355.60 64 bit win7 & win10 patched drivers:

This driver is for windows 7, 8, & 8.1 64-bit

http://www.gamefront.com/files/25172827/nvlddmkm35560-win7-64bit.rar

alternate download link:

http://turbobit.net/cqxuq297zdr2.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.gamefront.com/files/25172828/nvlddmkm35560-win10-64bit.rar

alternate download link:

http://turbobit.net/fz4qa7p57aeh.html

For now at least, I'm going to provide only 1 set of alternate download links, this seems to be
good enough, I checked a few multi-host upload sites, but they have restrictions on
copyrighted material (among other things), and this driver might be considered as such,
if a link goes bad or something, just tell me here and I can re-upload to the same site.

3. Go to https://github.com/EmberVulpix/DifferentSLIAuto/releases and download the 1.3 release file.

4. Unpack differentsli into a folder of your choice.

5. Unpack my patched nvlddmkm355.60.rar file into the same folder where you put differentsli.

6. Install nvidia's official drivers (355.60).

7. Go back to where differentsli is installed, you might need to pause your anti-virus program too.

8. Open a command prompt (administrator version) and run the Install.cmd, it should say it was successful, if it says there was a problem, don't continue, post here as to what the error was. Unpause your anti-virus program.

9. Reboot your computer, once it's back up, go to your nvidia control panel and activate sli mode.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These instructions are for windows 10 64-bit

These instructions were posted by MightyRufo.

Here's specific instructions on how to install the windows 10 driver:

I've figured it out! But unfortunately, it leaves us with a painful solution. I've done all the steps, driver installed and SLI is working (YES!!).. However, in order to get it to work. Windows Driver Signature Enforcement must be disabled, as we already knew. Problem is, in order to actually boot with DSE off.. You must access the startup options of Windows 10 to boot into the advanced startup menu and then choose 7 to boot with Driver Signature Enforcement off... Every time you boot.. I've also went ahead and tried to disabled this permanently, through cmd with some commands.. Apparently doing such has been removed or disabled in Windows 10. It cannot be turned off permanently. I'm not sure if this is a Windows 10 thing but I did read somewhere that, that is the case.

So, the process is as follows for us Windows 10 users.
1. Install drivers from Nividia
2. Check for Windows Updates. Let Windows download 353.62 display driver form Nvidia
3. Restart your computer (Usually windows will prompt you to restart upon installing this driver)
4. Download DifferentSLIAuto (1.3.1 as of today) and then extract it wherever: https://github.com/EmberVulpix/DifferentSLIAuto/releases
5. Download Jbailey8's 355.60 patched Nvidia driver: http://www.gamefront.com/files/25142902/nvlddmkm35362-win10.rar
6. Put the patched Nvidia driver into your DifferentSLIAuto folder.
7. Locate the Install.cmd file, then right click it and run it as administrator
Once it's finished, it should look like this: http://i.imgur.com/u5KDvSC.png
However, sometimes it's not able to copy the driver into your system, resulting in this: http://i.imgur.com/2D5l09x.png (0 files copied)
If it did not copy the driver over, move to the next step. If it did, move to step 10
8. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and locate the file named nvlddmkm.sys
9. Rename this file, doesn't mater what you rename it. But keep in mind, you can use it as a backup. I renamed mine nvlddmkmBACKUP.sys
9. Copy the nvlddmkm.sys patched driver in your DifferentSLIAuto folder to the same folder where you renamed nvlddmkm.sys
10. This part is a little tricky. Click Restart while holding shift until you see "Please Wait". You'll get an advanced menu.
a. Click on Troubleshoot
b. Advanced Options
c. Startup Settings
d. Then click Restart
This guide may help and the process is the same for Windows 10: http://www.howtogeek.com/126016/three-ways-to-access-the-windows-8-boot-options-menu/
11. When shown the advanced startup menu, press number 7 on your keyboard. (NOT F7, which doesn't seem to work for me)
12. Windows will start with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled. (You must repeat step 10, every time you boot windows, otherwise windows will NOT load the patched driver. Even with Test Mode on)
13. Right click on your desktop and click on NIVIDIA Control Panel, then check to see if you can enable SLI and then enable it, of course. (Not all motherboards will work with this, it's a hit or miss)
14. Verify it's working. In the Nvidia Control Panel, click 3D Settings (NOT Manage 3D Settings) at the top, next to Help and Desktop and click Show SLI Visual Indicator.
15. Run a SLI compatible game of your choice. You should see a bar on the left side of your screen. The greener the bar, the better SLI is performing. Do these same steps to disable it.
And wallah, enjoy!

Right, I already used DifferentSLIAuto, etc. and have the current method working with SLI.. However it will not allow me to enable SLI w/ Surround.. It gives me a "Display Connection Error" no matter how many different types of combinations I try (HDMI, DVI, DP, etc on one card, two cards, both cards, etc. - I have plenty of all and have tried them). I've even used nvidia's connection guide to see the options as well. http://www.geforce.com//hardware/technology/surround/system-requirements

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say in a earlier post that everything was working ok?

(page or two back I think).

Yes, SLI Works, SLI w/ Surround does not.

The options in the NVIDIA Control panel.

Working:

- Maximize 3D Performance (Works as intended powering a single display)
- Activate all displays (Works as intended. Each monitor is treated as its own individual monitor)

Not Working:
- Span displays with surround (This combines 2 or more monitors into a single display accelerated with SLI. This will not enable, it won't let me choose any combination of 2 or more monitors.)

When I used a single video card, I had no issues enabling surround on any combination of 2 or more of the monitors connected to the single card.

I'm currently searching for images or video of someone with two GTX 980's configured in SLI w/ Surround so I can see exactly what connectors they are using.

I'm reasonably sure it's not the patched driver causing this problem (I could be wrong, but at the moment I don't think I am). Have you checked here:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1429639/sli-and-surround-you-cant-go-non-surround-but-sli-enabled/10

this thread might have some useful information.

Yeah i've gone over it.. Right now I'm focused on just trying to get 2 monitors to work with SLI + Surround.. I've disconnected all my monitors and I'm going through trying different combinations again.. As of typing this I've got the DVI connection on each of the 2 GTX 980 cards. No luck.. Going by NVidias configuration guide, none of their options work. I'm also going to look into using custom resolution profiles next, but since all my monitors are the same (Samsung MD230's) - I'm not sure that will help.

Hey there thank for the work in the community. I've just installed the 355.60 and applied your updated patch.
What's going on is I have enabled SLI and restarted, but when I use MSI Kombustor on my two 560ti only one GPU gets used, the other stays at 0% ... any ideas here ?

Keep in mind everyone! Just because you can enable SLI, does NOT mean it'll work 100%. Sometimes it will be incompatible with your motherboard. Turning on SLI just sets the cards into SLI mode. There's also cases where, SLI will work for a few moments and then drop and you'll be left with one card doing all the work.

If you can enable sli in any case, the patched driver is working as intended, make sure your sli bridge is properly installed.

See this article:

http://www.geeks3d.com/20110310/tips-how-to-enable-sli-and-crossfire-support-for-msi-kombustor-2-0/

This will hopefully get you up and running.

Hi, this is obsolete information and the profile export tool does not work with the latest drivers. Google search of 'enable sli msi kombustor' gives all results from 2010 and 2011. However with some digging I found a plausible solution that I'm willing to try and report back.
I had the same issue on mine and solved it by going into the Bios and making sure the PCI slots were set to 8x8x0 (I had three slots on my MBU). Default it was setup as 16x0x0, so the GPU's were lighting up and windows was recognizing everything once it booted, but it didn't allow SLI.

Edit: Well there wasn't the option to change my PCI-E slot speeds but both slot 1 and 2 are default to 16x.

Hopefully you will get everything running, what mightyrufo said is true, not all motherboards properly support sli even with this patched driver installed.

Worst case scenario, you can use 1 board for video, and the other board for physics.

Actually once I started playing actual games both GPUs were being used, not both 100% but one at 45 and another at 25.

im having a very unlucky experience. i've been uninstalling and installing all day. I can't make this thing work. every time i go to hit Maximize 3D performance, the system blue screens . i'm running driver 355.60 with your patch involved. I'm out of ideas, just about to give it up. The closest I had was 353 drivers working on SLI and then after a reboot didn't work anymore. i'm willing to try some way older drivers but some of your download links jbailey8 are expired !

I just checked my download links and they seemed fine to me, which links are you referring to?

Edit: If you mean the download links to older drivers, sure those could be bad by now. Which
version driver do you want me to upload?

Sorry to hear about your on going problems, is there another computer that you have access to that has native support for sli? If
so, install the official nvidia drivers on that system and see if you can get multiple monitor support working, if it works, then install the patched driver and see if that still works, if it does, then you know it's something about
your system, if it doesn't then it's probably something about the patched driver. If your system
is bluescreening when you try to activate sli mode, offhand I'd say you have something else
on your system that's interfering with the driver, make sure you don't have hypersli installed,
when you run the install command, make sure you have your anti-virus turned off temporarily.
I've been using the same patched driver, and it's been working perfectly for me, but I'm only
running 2 boards and a single monitor, it's possible the multiple monitor setup is causing
the driver to freak out (but I don't see how at the moment).
