Need a Decent 500W+ PSU

Yeah, that Corsair is a kick ass psu. They also make a 620w version that can put out 50A combined.

The Corsairs are good and I like the flat cabling on them which is nice and neat. I would also recommend the Antec Earthwatts 500 as a very good budget psu. It has a 12v eps 8 pin unlike its smaller brothers. Silverstone ST50EF is also worth a look.

The 620 is about $40 more, and worth every penny, imo. It's my next power supply, as soon as I settle on what gfx card I'm gonna buy.

Well heres the thing, the 520 and 620 have the same 12 V amps. The 620 has a higher overall combined but they are prob adding in the other amps which is your USB and things like that, the 3 V and 5 V stuff. The main thing that matters for performance is the 12

The 520w can do 40A combined on the 12v rails. The 620w can do 50A combined on the 12v rails.

So even though they got the same 18 on each 12 rail, one is just more efficient then the other at combining?

Yeah, the only reason that I want the 620 is because I have no idea what the 2900XT will draw. I'm waiting for their release, and if they are better than the 8800GTS 640mb, I'll be getting one. If I end up with the 8800 or find out that the 2900XT can run on the 520w, that's what I'll get.

You def. need the 620 for a card like one of those. My card (7600gs) wants me to have about 24. It runs on the 16 I have but I know it would run better with the higher, hence the new supply. I think you should go with the 8800, performance, size in your case :laugh:

i just went for the 520, i got it cheap, and its enough for my next mobo/chip upgrade (i doubt i'll go sli/crossfire)

plus i'll finally get to junk the old crappy cheiftec psu in my old athlon xp nail (its psu hand me down time)

Yea I was just thinking the 520. I don't really need the 620 as I wouldn't mind having it, the 520 is cheaper and pumps probably more than enough for my setup and the extra rails are nice because I have a lot of fans, cathodes and what not, I spread my amps through a lot of stuff.

OK, I should think you can find these on the Egg if you look. I know the Antec is on there somewhere for around $80 I think.

Bear in mind the Corsairs actually only have 2 12v rails and by the looks of it no OCP. Lots of multi rail psu's actually only have one rail though so don't let that put you off.

I just bought an Enermax Infiniti 650W PSu for $155. It got an even better rating on
that Johnnyguru site, than those Corsairs did - 9.5.

theyre very nice those infiniti's, they got a great write up in custompc magazine too, i wanted one but they're a bit too pricey, considering that im not running sli/crossfire, i may go for a 720 when i actually get round to getting c2duo or phenom/barcelona (and maybe then a 2nd gpu)
