i thought about it too, but as my cards were new i ruled it out.

oven baking can help it work in the 'bent' position, but that should be a last resort only.

basically you strip the card down and remove everything you can, then stick it in the oven at a certain temperature to re-flow the solder on the card. it can help if the solder has cracked due to the weight of the card.
not worth doing unless you're willing to throw it out afterwards, as done wrong it can damage the card.

my fiancees 6870 was freezing and crashing while gaming, eventually artifacting at POST and failing to boot. that card now runs crossfire in my secondary PC just fine after an oven baking - there ARE success stories, but it depends on what the original problem was.

your card is definitely because of the flex, or not sitting in the slot correctly. video makes that much clear.

Had the exact same scenario with the exact same card. It wouldn't boot anymore so I backed it and it's been running in my main PC for a year now, without issues.

its a "pity" i got upgraded to a 290, or i'd be testing an oven bake on my 280x.

Rinkeeh, you are a goddamn genius. I gave the "put the case on its side" solution one more try and it's working like charm. What I did was unmount the VGA from the PCI-E slot, and after turning my box on its side, mount it again firmly on the slot. And it worked marvelously, I have removed all underclocking, volt tweaks and assorted stuff that I tried before, and its still running great on every game I have. One piece of advice for people who want to buy a VGA like this one: consider to change your motherboard for one that can actually handle the weight of this VGA. Mine its a run-of-the-mill Asus, with all the connectors and slots kinda cheap and really close to one another.
