BTW, there's probably an easy fix for making your video card work on the PCI-E x1 slot. You need to short two pins in the slot itself with a wire, like this. I've done it several times for boards that do not detect video cards in their x1 slots,
I have had a 100% success rate getting cards detected with this method.
