UE's highly anticipated follow up to the original BOOM has finally arrived. MEGABOOM is the grand name of this new product that is just, as the name suggests, a MEGA-version of the original design. We put it through its paces to see if it is a worthy successor!

Ultimate ears before being taken over by Logicrap has some the best IEMs, now they have turned this brand into shit. Some of the consumer stuff they are selling is no where near the standards of the products that Ultimate ears used to make in the past.

Speakers boom, silly assed naming. Unless the bass is out of control but i cannot see that with 65\20 frequency.

65-20 and $300 OMG

How ever thanks for the time and effort in to the review.

They could have made absurd claims on the FR like some manufacturers but they kept it sober. Sub 65 is nearly impossible to do in the form factor anyway, it is better to focus on where the bulk of the information is in the music anyway. Ultimate Ears still make a lot of good in-ears, but is refocused on audiophiles and artists.

Thanks for the review, Frederik! In your opinion, how does the UE Boom compare to the similarly priced Sonos (The $200 here in the US) ?

How come one of the negative points is not the lack of an app for Windows Phone users?

Last time I listened to the Sonos was at a noisy trade show so it is a bit of an unfair judgement. Sonos is also wallwart powered and requires a network connection, but maybe we can cover those in the future as well.
I did have a listen to the Libratone of similar size not long ago and I think the MEGABOOM has the legs on that one in terms of sound quality, and the Libratone is slightly more expensive (EU prices, not sure what they go for in the US).

Should we? (a question from my side not a pun)

Here I hardly see any phone running Windows Phone OS and according to the first two quarters of 2015 the market share of Windows Phone is sub 3% world wide. Technically the device works with WP but you will lack double up, and access to the other embedded features.
