You don't need mods to have fun in GTA. You need friends.

300 Hours of Gameplay, 20 minutes are Multiplayer.

Mods are winning in the fun factor for me. By about 299 hours.

could you(or someone who knows) please tell me how to do this? i didnt see any option for this on launch, just Story ode, and online...is it in settings or something?
That's one of the "awesome" features of the game. In order to play in a different online mode, you have to switch to singleplayer first, and then from the online tab in the pause menu select what exactly you want. The game is full of underthought and underdesigned shit like this, which ultimately makes the game somewhat unplayable for some people (I mean, too many little annoying things and you feel like punching someone in the face).

You can start off in Online mode without having to start off in the single player first. I haven't started the single player up in months.

I got over 200 in the multiplayer. Maybe 2 hours in the single. Friends > Mods.

Not if you want to play in solo online/friends only/etc. though. That's what I mean.

Your missing the point.

It should have been set up originally so you can HAVE BOTH. Like GTA:SA Multiplayer.

The way online is set up makes the entire online a massive fail to me...

I dont have friends, will you be my friend?

Nope, i cannot figure out How the hell to get Online option in ANY menu...I just wanna be able to play alone, online, free roam. because it seems that SP has me stuck with what i have already opened through story progression, or am i stuck finishing the story, b4 i can play the whole map? if someone can help me out with EXACTLY where the online option settings are, I would Greatly appreciate it.

But I told you exactly how!
Switch to singleplayer, open the "pause menu", go to "online" tab, and select whichever mode you want (I presume you want solo online).

i did that , there was no option for Solo online play, Doing as You say, loading singleplayer, pausing game, selecting Online, brings up a drop down, with the following choices..

character transfer
join friends
join crew
crew
creator
choose character
play gta online

okay, i got it now. thank you.
thats about as intuitive as my cars ignition being in the trunk of my wives car. FFS rock*

also, there MUST have been HUGE leaps in Driver support for this game, becaue Ive Seen SO many utube videos with people claiming they need new Gpu's to run this, My 7870 runs it just fine, not in 4k, but 1200p, with almost all set to max @ 60fps...from my experiences, this game run fantastic.

"Grand Theft Auto fans, get ready! The Freemode Events Update is coming to GTA Online Sept 15th. Compete in a range of seamlessly integrated games and challenges without loading screens or lobbies on your PC!"

"Published on Sep 10, 2015
Freemode Events in Grand Theft Auto Online are a new advancement in open world gameplay, giving players access to a range of seamlessly integrated games and challenges in GTA Online’s Freemode. Taking full advantage of the latest generation of consoles and PC hardware, there are no menus, lobbies, or load times – just an open Freemode session filled with Friends, Crewmates, rivals, and randoms where spontaneous and chaotic new games and challenges will appear.

One of these events can kick off at any given moment while in Freemode, and you can customize your session to decide exactly which ones will happen – so you can play as much or as little of this new content as you like. With countless variations on each Freemode Event, there are tons of unique new experiences, each offering new opportunities for reaping GTA$ and RP in GTA Online.

Feeling locked and stocked? Look out for King of the Castle – an every man for himself turf war where you’ll need to ascend and claim the designated ‘castle’ as your territory – and then fend off everyone else as they go all out to dethrone you. Form fragile alliances and work together in modes like Hunt the Beast, where one volunteer is temporarily transformed into a faster, stronger, beastly character who must escape relentless pursuers. Freemode Events also take the shape of insane stunt challenges, such as popping the longest wheelie, catching the most air in a land vehicle, or performing the most near misses in a vehicle without crashing.

Also included with next week's update are two brand new Adversary Modes. First, Hunting Pack: you’re part of a team tasked to deliver a priority vehicle rigged to explode if it drops below a minimum speed, while your opponents race, ram and batter to take it down. Or try Cross the Line, where heavily-armed squads face off across a neutral zone – with the goal of having all team members strategically penetrate their opponents’ territory to claim victory. The Freemode Events Update also brings the Rockstar Editor to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with new features (also being added for current PC users as well) such as an ambient audio and sound effects library, Snapmatic integration, Director Mode updates and more.

Rockstar is failing uber hard not putting updates into single player....

While GTA V Online is fun if you have a group of people to play with, if your playing Solo.... Single Player is by far better than online(Obviously my opinion).... YOu dont have to wait in lame loading screens, you don't have to deal with random trolls, and even better you can mod the half finished game rockstar made.

And better yet, I have modded the game to add features that rockstar was/is to lazy to add into Single player.

I nearly have half of the car models modded in my game to real-life models of cars. Also, a V-22 Osprey replaced for one of the planes.

Hell even most comments about this new patch are people bitching about no updates for single player and how nobody cares about online...

Rockstar has even made an announcement that THEY ARE ONLY focusing on GTA Online.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've yet to see a patch that targets the common character switch crashing in GTA V? Not that it matters much, GTA V is one of the more shallow, forgettable experiences on PC this year IMO.

I just watched The Gamechangers last night about the battle between Rockstar and Jack Thompson during the release of San Andreas. I was going into it thinking I was going to enjoy Thompson's disbarment most, but I couldn't help but be distracted by being reminded of how arrogant Sam Houser is. He likes to toot his horn about game quality and freedom of creative expression, but when it comes right down to it he only seems to care about what makes him the most money, lately without much regard to quality.

That's not a bad move IMO. You'll finish the single player mode like once or twice and you are done with the game. In multi you can play for countless hours with every update they release. Games with single player only are not a long-term commitment, therefore they will not make as much money on it as they will on multi (with the shark cards and stuff).

Its a failure to begin with simply due to the fact that we should have been able to have ONLINE PRIVATE servers with MODS. The entire thing should have been together.

I would disagree also, you obviously haven't seen the amount of mods they have for single player. Scripts for refueling a gas tank, adding custom missions into the game, playing a police officer, firefighter, taxi, even scripts to lower suspension height on cars, change the FOV, basically anything you can imagine...... and Hell, even a MAP EDITOR.... so to say that GTA Single player will run out of playability is absurd. As long as you have imagination you can play single player til the end of time, and most of these features should have been part of the game to begin with.

I understand that mods add to the game's value and you can have lots of fun with them. I've seen some of them on YT. But let's face it - they won't bring anything new to the story. There won't be any new missions with M, T and F (I guess you could mod it too, but that's not the point). It is better to have fun online with your friends than play modded single player after you are done with a story IMO.

I can agree that there should be a possibility to mod the multiplayer servers, but I guess it would require a lot of work on Rockstar's end.

I'm going to have to disagree again. At least the part having to do with more missions. There's a couple mods that add some awesome custom missions to the game. Even custom made heists. I also have a mod that allows you to start a Team Deathmath between factions at any time. enemies respawn for the duration of the mini game
