Hello, I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with this pc since yesterday. The computer was working perfectly, but my CPU was at max clocks everytime (3.9Ghz) and the reported temperatures disturbed me : motherboard at 115 degrees. I first thought it was an W10 issue, but to be sure I went to the bios in order to reset the settings. The computer then kept rebooting so I had to turn it off. I decided to clear the CMOS following the motherboard's manual, but it didn't work, so I get the CMOS battery on and off, still using the manual instructions. Unable to make the system display at the moment, I'm relying on your help to fix it. Do any of you have ideas on how I could make it work?
The system specs are as follows :
  • i5 4690
  • Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO
  • Asus H97M-E
  • 16GB Crucial Ballistix 1600Mhz
  • Samsung 850 Evo 120GB
  • Corsair CX500
Edit : I already tried using my 970 in it, but still no display. Also tried VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs from the motherboard.

Processor just a few i7's all AMD's gone to friends
Motherboard Mother F%#@& am I board
Cooling It's called Alberta Canada.
Memory Don't remember.
Video Card(s) Hope for blckjack
Storage hurt my toe's when droped
Display(s) never big enough
Case I think they call it a lost case
Audio Device(s) What speek up I'm old.
Power Supply Good old coffee
Software when you get this old everything is soft
Benchmark Scores Always on the bench never on the field.
The temps are the problem not the gpu.

First thing I would do is look for damage on the mother board.

Next if no damage is found is pull everything apart and rebuild on a box.

Good luck

The computer was working fine the past 13 months. I also think the motherboard would have shut down if the temperature was real. Any other ideas?

The motherboard is what shut down. Thirteen months at high temps is not good.

Just take some time and look at it, Hell even smell for damage

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. The motherboard doesn't shutdown and never did. I just can't get the computer to display since I reset the bios settings.

115C.

don't think it is the same as it is a i5 and I'm drinking and know that.

the system is in the OP, not in the specs

on the mother board look for any burn marks, look close to the top by the DIGI+VRM printing.

You did that with no GPU attached? After pulling battery for 35 seconds?
Have you checked your monitor to see if you accidentally hit the analog/digital switch?
Does it look like it's booting into Windows?

Can you try another GPU? Maybe an older one, with no UEFI BIOS.

Now working. Plugged everything in/out, then the bios reset... But the max clocks remains, maybe is it a W10 issue? I did a fresh install, so I guess it is. The computer was idling at 0.8Ghz by the time W8.1 was installed if I remember correctly.
