Stereo response. :laugh: Okay, I should have said that I've seen reviews before of these inexpensive non-contact thermometers and the readings were very inaccurate. What has your experience been? How hot does it read a pot of boiling water?

Hard to read a boiling pot due to steam (1" of water in stainless pot and emissivity changed to value of 93) but 212 + 2% = 216.

I have measured 216 as top value but had it fluctuate from 186 upwards. So I would say in range.

For measuring liquid I would use an immersion test probe for better accuracy, if say your brewing beer. Such as:

Can confirm that these things are useful as all get out and this is about the best price you'll see for one. I'm considering buying a second one.

Not sure if your heatsink is making good contact? Scan the base!
Dumping ice in a water loop and want to measure the increase in cooling? Scan the radiator!
Have an engine running rough? Check temps on each port of the exhaust manifold to see which cylinder has the issue!

Also, the laser pointer is fun for the cats (and some dogs).
