I am amazed at how many comments are thinking there is a great deal of visual difference between dx11 and 12. Dx12 is basically dx11 with much much better at utilizing all the resources at hand. It is more like a feature upgrade than a visual one. There will be much better implementation and quicker with dx12 than dx11 because it just lets developers better utilize the hardware than they had been able to previously. I bet we see much quicker releases of dx12 games simply because it just gives developers more resources to play with.

Literally every game that uses DX12 will be a DX11 release. I feel like not enough people know that DX12 does not replace DX11 whole-hog like DX11 does with 10, and 10 did with 9, etc. If you want to make a game without all of the low-level optimizations, you still use DX11. And even if you want to make a native DX12 game, you'll still be using DX11 APIs because there isn't a DX12 equivalent for literally every API out there. So any DX12 game is also inherently a DX11 game because not every single API, and not every single process works better without the abstraction layers.

couldn't have said it better myself.

It's the new Deus Ex, I could care less if it ships with DX 9.0 for that matter. It's da story...., da characters...
It's "i couldn't care less" as if to say i don't care so much i couldn't possibly care any less so many times i have seen that wrote wrong.
Yeh down with the future(dx12) bring back dx 6 you sods i want less features and performance not more wtfff.

I think the idea is the game itself relies on story, playability and atmosphere. DX12 will not make a game better, just run better on hardware, AMD's especially.

Bit more than that for me i actually found the last one a total bore. In fact i have only liked the original.

now why do they bother to stir the dx12 soup when the dinner wont be ready for xmas 2015? we need to know which graphics cards to prioritize, and with zero testable dx12 apps, we cannot make the relevant decision.

But more resources directly relate to better graphics in many aspects, like the amount of detail you can pack into a scene and still have smooth performance.

Well ill say this much then, the original ,did flow very well as a game.
Because it didn't break your feeling of presence ,i liked the story of the last one and most of the game but the level loading and character animation jarred me out of my emersion and that was because of the game engine .
Hopefully it would be better next game

If you're going to grammar nazi, then at least use the correct word in your sentence.

"so many times I have seen that written incorrectly."

Dude Gsync is awesome?!?! The biggest game changer in a long oh while.

Meh I just got a FreeSync Monitor and a Fury so far it's been rather pointless. I just use my 144Hz refresh rate and be done with it. It's not as big a deal as it was made out to be UNLESS you are being frame starved I guess.

how do you make atmosphere without fancy lighting & audio effects? a game isnt a book or deck of cards, neither is a movie

i mean i know there are diminishing returns by now, but it seems odd to see some people (not you) with very strong comments that are anti-graphics to the point of being ridiculous

even the original doom had atmosphere due to its graphics, while wolfenstein did not

now there is one thing more powerful hardware can do to change gameplay, increased density in dynamic objects or increased precision in physics

If you're going to grammar nazi, then at least use the correct word in your sentence.

"so many times I have seen that written incorrectly."
technically 'wrote wrong' is the same meaning, but 'could care' is NOT the same meaning

i am all about the meaning, it shouldnt matter if it's ghetto slang

you can tell i dont write in complete sentences, it's more of a thought stream

I am also capable of complete sentences. One could break the rules if they know them. I do enjoy English as a language with all its quirks and history.

Atmosphere is the combination of alot of things, sound, presentation of story, dialogue, suspense or humor, and additionally lighting can help.

A very ungraphically intense game, Life is Strange is gripping and filled with atmosphere. And it's almost entirely due to the presentation of the story and events. Graphics and graphical effects, can enhance, but are not required for a game to be good.

That's more than that. The first DeusEx was the best game I have ever played story wise. The follow-ups were utter garbage from the story point of view. Specially the last one....

I wish they would do a remake of the first one with the same voice, gameplay and story, only updated 2016 graphics. That would be awesome.

All of the people saying Deus Ex should be remade...when was the last time you played it? I replayed the entire series less than two years ago and I really don't see what warrants the rosy retrospection. DXHR took what was good about DX and DXIW and improved upon it in every way.

As for the topic at hand, DXMD uses the Dawn Engine which is based on the Glacier 2 engine used in Hitman: Absolution. This is a HUGE shift from DXHR and also partially explains the long development time it is taking. I'm excited for this game simply because we're finally seeing it made with an engine that's a closer match to the gameplay. Listening to the commentary in DXHR, it's clear they wasted a lot of time trying to make the engine do things they absolutely wanted (like ragdoll explosions) just to make it work. A lot of content was cut because of it (like the Henshai tower was supposed to be broken into two large areas but the lower part was cut).

Literally every game that uses DX12 will be a DX11 release. I feel like not enough people know that DX12 does not replace DX11 whole-hog like DX11 does with 10, and 10 did with 9, etc.
I think DX10 was only a stepping stone for DX11, it wasn't so great because games were ported from DX9 to DX10 and many games stayed on DX9.

As for games:
They all have a lot of problems:

-settings and save game management, some games like AC3 report broken saves when you copy them and it would be nice if they would save save games and settings in the same location

-intro movies - I already paid for the game why the hell should I have to watch your ads also by default

-series often have games which were released at a different time so the graphics vary by each game, I hate that because if I want to play a story in multiple games I want similar graphics and not different, why can't they just make a real graphical remakes (none of that remastered crap) of older games like Oblivion, Morrowind

Human Revolution made in Unreal Engine looked and felt really good. I wonder why they decided to go with some other engine...

Because it wasn't Unreal Engine. It uses the Crystal engine which was used for Tomb Raider games since 2006. Development branched off for Human Revolution prior to "Tomb Raider" being developed.

Hm, I guess I mixed it up with some other game. It still looked really good though. Had that Final Fantasy visual vibe going on.
