I was looking at the TP Link Archer C5 ac1200, since it's just me, my cruncher's and folder's. BUT, and a big one at that, I decided to look around.

Now, the selling point for me, due to the research I have been doing, is having a newer Broadcom in it.

C5 has it, Ver2 that is, for 75-ish bucks. it's a 1200, plenty for my current usage and enough for a bit of expansion, Crunching Farms tend to expand...:D

Plus, now I've caught the Folding Bug!!:fear:

But, since I don't need the Router, until next month, I decided to roam around. Don't get me wrong, I believe the C5 to be a solid performer and has plenty of reviews and tests to back it up. But $75 to me, currently? It's a lot.

I found the NetGear. How could I say no?:laugh:

I have the same router rocking DDWRT
make sure you flash the one for inital flashing
after that you can download and run whatever build you want
I would not use anything found on myopenrouter tho
usually its either out of date or badly broken
router also has u.fl connectors if you wanna add external antenna's
and it does need it because the 5Ghz range is poo

I will be using this router stock, until I read up more on the DDWRT stuff. I am a bit new to it, but unafraid to try new things!! I just want to learn a little more than nothing beforehand!

Also, I am in a small-ish apartment. Router will not be more than fifteen feet away, unless I plan on showering with my laptop (in which case it will be closer to 21 feet away!).:laugh:

Thank you all for the input. It makes me feel as though I made the correct decision.

When One is living Check to Check, as I am, finding deals is necessary. Sometimes though, they are not really deals!

I am thinking this was a good one. You all have made me feel better about it, too!

i'd have vouched for the TP link, its stock features are often above what third party for other routers can do (per IP/IP range bandwidth limited without needing vague QoS rules is amazing)
