Hi guys:
is it normal or acceptable to receive a new motherboard from Amazon without a sticker on the box to ensure you are the first one to open it?
thanks!

Usually anti-static bags holding the actual mobo have seal sticker. You can also check other packages. For example my Sabertooth had all the extras like port dust plugs and SATA cables individually packaged in transparent bags.

Amazon really is a good company. I order most of my hardware from them and pretty much everything else except food. They take care to pack your hardware so it doesn't arrive dinged up. I never buy from a brick and mortar store anymore except the grocery store. All you have to do is buy over $35 at a time and even the shipping is free but it does take longer to get what you ordered that way. 20% discount is pretty cool for the missing sticker.

20% is good, considering they sold you as new someone else's open box return.

I rarely buy hardware from Amazon. It has to be a really good price, because most of the time it's 5-10 dollars over Newegg.

My other gripe is their computer hardware section is a joke. It's like they told an ADHD kid with split personalities added in to organize it. I can rarely find anything via a search.

Search GTX 980 and the first page might mostly be 980's, and the rest is any other variation of Nvidia GTX cards, and even other products not even computer-related.

Even the categories aren't broken down very well...not like Newegg is able to do. It's really not hard, just get some people who know computers to at least consult on your website creation.

Anyway, my rant had turned into something like RCoon's anti-Greenlight (on Steam) rant.

I'm glad Amazon Customer Service did right by you!

I only had a huge problem once (my fault) when I returned a heavy Yamaha amplifier to Amazon France (I am in Spain, but I buy all over Europe for price or availability) because I am not a Prime client there (it is country based). So i had to unexpectedly pay the postage which was crazy crazy. But when I return stuff to Amazon Spain it is free, and they return my money the same day that I send it back.
I have bought Dominator Platinum RAM and I am returning it without opening it as i have measured my case+AIO watercooling and it will not fit. Just in case I ordered standard profile RAM at the same time which I will install. It is sad but brick and mortar shops would need 2 weeks to manage returns and new orders... and I am compulsive like a crackwhore! lol

I don't know but maybe you are an impulse buyer. When I buy hardware I already know what I want and I no longer need to window shop. Amazon has some really nice sales and I wait for them and pull the trigger. Sometimes Newegg has a really nice sale and I buy from them. You shouldn't expect any retailor to hold your hand and guide you towards a smart buying decision.

I really don't impulse buy. I know what I want and that's my problem with Amazon. When it comes to computer parts, they are a disorganized mess compared to their other products.

It must be even worse for Joe and Josephine six-pack who don't have a clue and have tonwade through the weeds.

I've lived on this planet for 52 years and I've never known a woman named Josephine. You need to back up on the boozing my friend.

A 20% discount for missing sticker ! :peace:

Now for the "fun" question: Does it work? 20% off a defective motherboard is no bargain.

I will a.s.ap., during the public presentation of my new baby :) (i7 5930K arrives later this week :)
I don't expect that btw, everything is immaculate. I just checked recent mobo-boxes and none come with a seal sticker...

I just started a chat with Amazon and now they offer me a discount... ;)
Once I was ordering two from the same thing and the dealer (was not even Amazon!) charged me twice for shipping the two piece (earplugs for my headphone). They gave me 30$ as a gift to counter the overcharge, Amazon is awesome:D

Amazon(Amazon): Ika and I refund the shipping fees in the form of a promo ?
Ika: What would I need to do?
Amazon(Amazon): Then you can order 2, our promo's only expires in the year 2020.
Ika: Sounds great, but I never had a promo before, please can you tell me how would that work? Is it a code I redeem?
Amazon(Amazon): Just place the order and I'll refund the double charge in the form of a promo, will this work for you ?
Ika: Sure thing, very nice of you
Amazon(Amazon): Okay, should I hold while you place the order.
Ika: I'm doing it now, kust a moment
Ika: just*
Amazon(Amazon): Sure, take your time.
Ika: oh, the shipping is $14.99 vs $29.98, Is that ok?
Amazon(Amazon): That's fine.

Ever since newegg decided they would force me to pay a restocking fee on a monitor that came with broken control buttons I order everything through amazon.
Its also really great when something does screw up or comes DOA and amazon ships an new one out immediately and all I have to do is put the old broken one in the box and send it back, at no cost to me within 30 days.

Really cant beat amazon.

More on topic I have bought plenty of boards that came with no seal on the box or bag, some from Amazon some from Newegg and some from Micro Center
