That's the VAT i have to pay, I guess, alongside any other customs fees, plus shipping.

Ok, drawing the line. So, the lightning fell. I really do want to have all the ultra details on games (yeah, everybody have their own piggies in their heads.. this is mine), so.. I might be going with 2 970s. Dunno, still, if should I go with MSI Gaming or any other brand. Doesn't the Zotac stand up well, especially with that Extreme Core edition model?

Well, BiggieShady said the 970s are not a good deal in your area so I would look at a single 980 Ti. I'm not sure what cards you have to choose from but if the Zotac is one then there is a pretty in depth review here

The idea of getting 2 970 is that it will be easier to sell when Pascal will arrive. I guess the MSI Gaming 970 will be (almost) everyone's favorite, due to its smaller size. And, from what I read it overclocks better than the AMP extreme Core edition
Is there a better option, still?

In my region, there aren't many possibilities to get SH 970s. And I don't even trust SH products. The idea is that if I can get those 2 (brand new) is less costly than that 980 Ti lightning.
And If am not sattisfied with those 2 in SLI, heck, Im gonna' return one and learn to live with one 970 until Pascal.
The question is, is that model of zotac better than the other ones available, like G1, Msi Gaming, etc?

For info, the lightning here scores just over 1000$.
And the 2 970, I can get them for 200$ less

Performance wise, I am sure these 2 970 AMPs, will be defeating that Lightning with 20% less money
In that case why not consider a single 980?

It's under the 970 SLI performance, which equals or beats that of 980Ti.

So, should I go for the MSI? Anyone?

Like I said, in some areas, like on the hills with plenty viewing and alot of grass, the FPS drops to low 40s. And that"s on 1080p.
So, is it ok to go for 2 GTX 970 Zotac AMP! Extreme Core edition?

That doesnt seem right at all.....

I have an i5 and GTX 970.... @ 1080p I do not go below 50 FPS ever, I play at High/Very High detail(Somewhere in between)

95% of the time playing I sit at a constant 59FPS.... so i dont see a i7 6700K + a 980ti holding it back at all, especially at 1080p.
-I assume you don't have everything turned to the max, because theres a few options that just butcher your FPS for really nothing you could even notice.

IMO A GTX 970 will be sufficient for 1080p. Save money. Wait for pascal... basically what I am doing.

I think your options seem to be a bit out there for what your trying to accomplish. Remember that your doing 1080p 60hz on a T.V. if I understood correctly which even on the most demanding games does not require much power in this day and age.

I tend to agree with the others about getting a single GTX 980 for saving a couple of bucks while getting sure fire performance for awhile with everything maxed out. I would say buying two 970's to not be the best option for you and if you really must have that much power to just get a single GTX 980ti over that. If your looking for resale, 970's are not going to have as much down the line as a GTX 980ti especially if you have a pair of them since the 980ti is one of the top performing cards and contains a very nice high amount of VRAM.

As for the GTX 980ti lightning originally started with, I have heard good things about it including on Jayztwocents and other sites saying it was a pretty good card. All the GTX 980ti's even with special boards, cooling, etc perform about the same within about 50mhz. Your really not going to benefit much unless you spend high amounts or get lucky in the lottery of quality (Higher Asic etc).

So to sum up, I would avoid dual 970's and opt for a single GTX 980ti if the price is similar since the performance is close if you must have that much power. But I feel even a single 970 would be enough let alone a single GTX 980.

Thank you guys. Taking your advices, after some thinking, I am now between a GTX 970 G1 and GTX 980 G1.
BUT, the price I pay for the 970 is 400$ and for the 980 I pay 650$. Is it worth it spending those extra 250$, and get the 980? 980 G1 has like 10fps more, give or take, its cooling solution is better, noise wise I guess they are the same.

Probably not, the performance difference is not that high in a single card solution between the two for the price difference in most cases. You might get a few dips especially if you have MSAA and such on but in the end the difference is probably going to be (even max OC compared) <10FPS. How much was the GTX 980ti you had over there?

I would just get the G1 970 and overclock it to the limit if I was you at this point. If you want more power I would just skip straight back to a 980ti. I had not thought to hard about how much the GTX 980 is compared to the GTX 970 so for that price difference, its not worth it unless you want to run multiple cards.

Wow...Well anyways for standard 1080p 60hz I would say the overclocked 970 should be more than enough. Otherwise, you may want to skip back to another 980ti (Just be prepared for the difference between them, you may have to bump MSAA off on some games to keep it smooth on the 970).

With SLI 970 versus single 980 Ti you may get more average FPS but also less smooth gameplay due to SLI no matter what settings ... nvidia does frame pacing well but it's never exactly perfect, and generally always worse than single GPU.
If you can't bear reducing detail in GTA5, 980Ti is where it's at. Hint: vegetation on 'Very High' is what's making 980 Ti go to low 40ies at some areas ... especially if combined with MSAA.
The most sensible move would be: save money, get a single 970, reduce details in GTA5 and wait for Pascal ... it's really simple, gotta ask yourself if you can wait that long.

I totally agree with this ^

Also, I would not go with 970s in SLI. In the end its your choice obviously. But in GTA 5 im sitting at 3-3.3gigs of VRAM, so if you SLI'd the 970s with the " 3.5G VRAM issue" even if it uses the full 4G of VRAM (last 500mb at a slower speed) it would still not be enough for the future I feel like. Especially for higher resolutions. But then again, I have no personal experience with SLI.

From what I've been reading a Pascal is going to run all over a Maxwell. Possibly 60% to 90% faster.

It's supposed to drop in mid 2016 but there could be problems with 16nm yields at TSMC. There could also be shortages with HBM2 as well.

When the dust settles we are in for big leap in performance over Maxwell.

I understand paying for the best gaming experience that you can right now but leave yourself a plan for whatever card/cards you will buy for now where you will lose the least money when you sell. You will probably not be at all content with Maxwell when Pascal rolls out.

agree with guys here, no big deal now specially with confused DX12 news, take some mid range card like gtx970 or even used 980 and wait for pascal.

If it is at first make a custom fan profile, no reason for it to be noisy with that massive cooler.

I am glad I got a 980 ti at launch personally, I have a gut feeling HBM 2 is going to have manufacturing slowdown issues and winter 2016 will be the actual "in stock" release date of pascal. and even then i can sell my 980 ti on ebay and lose a couple hundred bucks, but oh well, worth it to me for having a nice gaming rig for an entire year. :D

So, finally went with a GTX 970 G1. Been playing a little on Mad Max, the FPS hovers around 150-190, on max details, 1080p.
The problems are:
1. I have sudden FPS drops for a second (drops to under 70fps), every 5-10mins or so.
Any idea on what and where is the problem? I haven't tested on other games or benching apps to see if this case is isolated, but still is kind of annoying.

2. Coil whine is present and noticeable, especially at high FPS. Is there a chance that it may fade in time?

3. The card's RAM is from Elpida, and from what I read, they are the worst.

What's your opinions on these 3 points?

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Wow.. 3.5 hours before a bump... have some patience. This is a forum, not an IM client! :)

1. Check your vRAM use and see if you are surpassing 3.5GB in that game. But yeah, you need to do some testing in other things before declaring this 'a problem'.
2. Maybe.
3. Ok. So what is your point? It is true that generally the Elpida chips overclock on average worse than some Hynix.. but it is what it is. Overclock it.

1. Looks about right to me. I saw minimum FPS around 90, but I turn off crap like motion blur which may or may not effect framerates http://www.nextpowerup.com/articles/mad-max-performance-analysis/page/2/

2. Coil whine is coil whine. If you don't want it, turn VSync on. Running games above and beyond 100 FPS, or even 1000 FPS is a good way to cause coil whine if it's present. Some cards have coil whine regardless, but many, including mine, have coil whine if I push hundreds of FPS.

Alternatively, replace your PSU with something of vastly higher quality. In some cases a better quality PSU can reduce or remove coil whine.

3. Doesn't matter. It will run at its stated specs. It just may mean your potential VRAM overclock is lower than that of Samsung chips.
