Eh, minor video card upgrade and you'll be good to go IMO. This is for a good experience at, probably 1080P mind you. I'm sure your 7850 will at least be able to run the game. :)

Do you have any money you can devote to a new GPU?

New Intelligence video is out:
https://www.youtube.com/user/BethesdaSoftworks/videos

Looks kinda like crafting is more integrated with intelligence (they cite better chems and better guns), so it might have more of an impact than in past games.

If it's like Skyrim the "minimum" will be pretty much unplayable. That's a shame.

At least 8 GB of system RAM is required. That means we're looking at a 64 bit executable, correct?

Edit: Scratch that, this is a reason to get Pascal or Arctic Islands next year. I'm really praying that Bethesda did better on the QC this time. For freaking once. *silent sobbing*

Come now, you know better than that. :)

Much as I love Bethesda games, I know they are buggy messes when they release. I'm still willing to take that risk because I love the Fallout franchise so much.

I do. I might consider it. I probably will wait and see how it runs first and then decide on the upgrade.

Sweet glory, I missed it. It doesn't even seem like anyone else caught it either.

It requires a 64 bit OS. Bethesda actually dropped some balls, and made their game require a 64 bit OS. Finally!

My hope is that this proves to other publishers that 64 bit games are actually worth the investment. Even through the inevitable wall of bugs.

I was almost sure Bethesda would leave it at 32-bit and DX9 out of laziness. I am surprised by the somewhat high system requirements though; from a developer standpoint, having lower system requirements ensures your game is accessible to a wider audience (not everyone has a fancy-pants high-end gaming rig). 64-bit and DX11 is understandable but the other stuff not so much. Oh well... hopefully, the upcoming generation of GPUs will do something about that.

The consoles finally got 64-bit support, didn't they? Maybe that has something to do with it.

True.

At the same time, how many games coming out now are 32 bit executables? I can't speak with definitive knowledge, but plenty of games to still be in the 32 bit zone, despite the consoles offering more than the 4 GB (whether the 8 GB they come with is actually accessible at once is another issue, but not worth addressing right now).

Seriously though, even Skyrim wasn't LAA out of the box. You had to mod the executable to make it large addressing aware. It might be a little thing, but consider me psyched that somebody is actually moving forward here.

I'm worried shitless.
CPU is an old i7 930 but it's oc'd at 4Ghz.
My graphics card isn't that recent either but it's a Nvidia 670 with 4GB vram and it plays fine everything I throw at it so far.

But I've only got 6GB of RAM.

Only 6GB of system memory...... !!!

I think your cpu will be fine, and the ram I hope it will turn out that 4gb will be enough. I think the system requirements are a bit higher than will be needed for minimum so we will be able to play it. I wont pre-order it anyway. rather I will wait and see how it looks and plays and then decide my next step.

She needs triple channel for best performance so 3 X 4 GB but that doesn't cost too much. I would try the game with 6 GB first before investing more in that platform. You may be fine with 6 GB.

Yeah, I'm worried that if I add RAM I'd mess up my overclock.
I'd be far worse with an i7 930 at its stock speed of 2.8Ghz and more RAM than with 6GB with the CPU @ 4Ghz.

we'll find out the specs are higher than the game really needs. almost guaranteed.

Usually the case....

They were even saying on Star Wars Battlefront a 980 or 980ti will be required on the larger maps with more players.... but honestly, the game was running flawlessly on my 970 with every detail set to Ultra. So I just don't see it, and theres no way the reccomended processor is an i7... I guarantee it will play fine on an i5
