Why would anyone buy a star wars battlefront game that does not include space battles? it is called "Star Wars" for god's sakes!!!

What part of "Star Wars" infers spaceships? A star is a star. A war is a war. The film title is not even accurate for the themed content.

I understand your point. But you can fly X-Wings, Tie fighters etc and drive AT-ST's and AT-AT's.

It wasn't called "Wars in Space".

Plus I did kill a few rebels with force choke as Lord Vader. It's pretty fucking Star Wars tbh.

do you guys remember that Star Wars 1313 game that was cancelled?

Amy Henning (Uncharted) and Visceral games are working on a new third person Star Wars game that sounds more exciting than Battlefront :p i'm sure it will be teased at E3 next year.

Yea, I was looking forward to that game. I think it was cancelled due to it being something Star Wars fans really wanted... It's sad that Disney is going to give us a more gritty movie than lucus art...
After playing the beta.. I doubt I'll buy this game at all.. I'm more interested in what Industrial Light & Magic is doing with Star Wars in VR than anything EA or Dice make.. I can't believe Dice has screwed up Vehicles in a game.. 2142's walkers controlled 10 times better than the AT ST.. and the fact that the AT ATs were on rails and could only shoot things in front of them was horse shit. I don't even know why they even put zoom on the 1.4 FD P-Tower or DF.9, because it sucked.. I still can't get over the fact you can't land or take off in a T-47 airspeeder/Snowspeeder.. /rant over.. lol I might as well buy a console.. /ps rant over lol

Question here, anyone else paid attention to the DLC scheme?

$50 for a season pass.

That means a "complete" game is going to cost $110. I can't even express how screwed up that is in Pounds and Euros. Anyone actually willing to get this game on launch day, after weighing that price versus the experience with the beta?

*God I hope this is the franchise that EA finally gets the ire of consumers on, and this BS DLC starts to go away.*

I was under the impression that was a guess. The $50 confirmation came well after you said that, no?

If not, my bad for not reading correctly.
Nope. That season pass crap was confirmed pretty early on. All AAA games are now 120 bucks. Which is funny because I kinda called this trend a while ago.....

I like the game, but not @ $140.

And once again, much respect to the regular TPU teamspeak members that made playing it all that much enjoyable. If most users on the TS buy the game, I will too, but I have a feeling that I won't get it until there is a package for all content for less than $70 CAD (like $50 US).

Yet that in and of itself is why I am not that interested... playing as a group sucks. Playing solo, no problem, but the big attraction of this for me (and any game of this genre) is team-based play with real-time voice communication. This game lacks that, and IMHO that is a big mistake.

But its Star Wars, and people will buy it no matter how bad it is.

Dang it! My willpower is about the same... I'm trying to hate this game, but I want to buy it today.. lol :banghead: I was hoping my rant from yesterday I would see everyone else not buying it for the same reasons.. and my willpower could have held.. lol  The GMG deal looks good... CJS CDKeys has it for 49... I may hold out for CJS to drop it's price once the game is out.

Allow me to help.

Right now you can get dozens of modifications for Unreal Tournament 2004 that allow you to:
1) Be a Storm Trooper
2) Be a Rebel
3) Fly an X-wing
4) Use Star Wars weaponry.

You can get all of this for $15 right now: http://store.steampowered.com/app/13230/

For the price of just the base game, that's 3 copies of UT2k4. Once you factor in the $50 season pass, that's 6 copies of UT2k4.

You give up some of the graphical bells and whistles. What you get back is a more complete and mod friendly game that you can afford to have all of your friends playing, rather than just yourself.

Edit:
Pricing based upon the cited $45 discount. If you start at $60 you can count another friend in for UT2k4. Woohoo!

Edit:
Spelling changes.

The one thing keeping me from buying this is the lack of a "server browser" and/or being able to team-up properly with friends. I enjoyed playing the beta, but I'll give things more time before I buy.

I haven't tried UT yet. After buying a couple of greenlight turds, some early access games, and a few which claim to be "complete but always updating" I'm beta'd out. UT3 was a pile of crap though, which is why I went all the way back to 2k4 for my recommendation.

Hopefully the new UT is like the new Tribes, a return to form. No matter how good or bad that game is though, Battlefront is just an EA cash grab. They've stopped hiding it. At the same time, nobody seems to have the common sense to see that the only way to stop these travesties is to not buy the games. This game doesn't offer any reason for me to change my policy of never paying EA or installing Origin, but it should have. Sigh.

The one thing keeping me from buying this is the lack of a "server browser" and/or being able to team-up properly with friends. I enjoyed playing the beta, but I'll give things more time before I buy.
Yea, not having a server browser is one of the worst ideas..

Sigh.

I wouldn't mind a new Tribes game. I enjoyed Tribes 1 and I even liked 2, but everything after that was crap...

EDIT: Have you tried the new UT?

Thanks for posting that. I just played around and had a great time. It's been quite a while since playing some UT, and even though it's pre-alpha with some glitches and rough graphics, it was a lot of fun. In fact, it was much more fun than the Star Wars beta; I played a little bit of that and it got boring pretty quickly.

That's good news! I'll download it and give it a try as well. :toast:
