is the season pass time limited? or can i grab it after launch?

Based upon Bethesda's responses, no idea.

They've only slightly pushed the season pass, as it has yet to even have a rough content listing. Their marketing thus far has only been "it'll be worth $40, but only costs $30."

Knowing Bethesda's tendencies, it'll be available until well after the first major piece of DLC comes out. There is the possibility though that this will be like Saint's Row. You can actually still buy the season pass on Steam for those games, despite them being functionally done since Gat out of Hell.

Still eagerly awaiting the 11th to roll around. Hope that MTUI is available close after launch. That was a key mod for both Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

I think I have decided, despite my love of Bethesda games, to not be an early adopter of Fallout 4. My reasoning is after the last two (FNV and Skyrim) that numerous patches will be needed, as well as a community bugfix for everything that Bethesda "forget" to patch.

Since I like to mod my games from them, I don't wat to constantly have a broken game that must wait a day or two after each patch for the mod authors to update their mods for the latest version.

I will just have to live Fallout 4 vicariously through the majority that will buy it straight away.

You might be in for a LONG wait. I bought Skyrim in january 2014 and even the unofficial patches grew a ton since then.
The game looks interesting, but I intend to wait at least a year myself.

Agreed!

Also, because this is now a thing:

Fallout beer, courtesy of Carlsberg UK:

Nuka Cola, courtesy of Jones Soda Co.:

(2 links provided because it isn't on sale yet, one to the news and the other to Jones's website).

The beer is relatively straight forward, but berry lemonade for the cola is kinda interesting. Who wants to bet that these things are $100 a pop inside of two years?

I never played Fallout before, but this is from steam:

"Freedom and Liberty!
Do whatever you want in a massive open world with hundreds of locations, characters, and quests.
Join multiple factions vying for power or go it alone, the choices are all yours.
"

Now I like open world games, but can you easily get killed? And have to be on guard everytime?
I don't play online btw. Can you just walk around and kill everything you see?
I like to explore the world.

@P4-630 think Skyrim. You CAN kill anyone and everyone, but then you have no one to buy things from, sell things to, trade, or get quests from.

It's a role playing game.

EDITED to fix my inability to spell for crap this morning. I'll blame it on using a phone for that post.

Thanks for that @rtwjunkie , I will wait till the game is out and want to know how it runs on lower spec systems first before buying, since I'm playing it on my laptop with a GTX770M, I would like to run it at 1080p if possible. I can run GTA V smoothly @ 1080p high/very high, locked at 41 fps.

1. It's offline game. I think it's harder than ElderScrolls but still far from annoying online pvp experience.
2. No. You could kill anything you see 99% of the time, but there are several NPC with essential status, some temporary some permanent. Usually it's because they're related to main quest or your current quest or they're children.

100% correct, but there's a few more things to add.
1) Children can't die.
2) Main story line NPCs can die sometimes, but only if there's a backup NPC (per New Vegas, in 3 the characters were all set to essential).
3) Followers can't die. They become unconscious, until all nearby enemies are put down.
4) Some NPCs are randomly bullet proof. I'm thinking of New Vegas here, where a sentient AI can just jump into another Protectron's body when his is felled. The only exception was if you critical hit with either a laser or plasma weapon. The vaporization/gooification didn't label them "dead," so he couldn't respawn.

In every day conversation, anyone can die. In New Vegas, you can kill most people without even losing reputation if you're hidden. To that end I'd like to share a personal story. In New Vegas I was neutral with Caesar's Legion, and walked into their camp when the NCR troopers were being crucified. I took Ratslayer, and sneak attack critical hit every one of the Legion in the head, without ever getting a faction reputation loss. After wiping out everyone there, I freed the troopers, and moved on (the regular mission was to kill the troopers mercifully). Now later, I killed a legion trooper and my reputation suddenly dropped two ranks (apparently the game just didn't recognize it at the time), but I managed to short circuit some of the main plot line before I even entered New Vegas (something you should be doing very early on in the game).

What you get in return for being that open is a pile of bugs. Far too often something just nutty happens, or textures fail to load, or the game just suddenly decides to hang. Both Fallout 3 and New Vegas were based upon Gamebryo, as the bug fixing took months after their release, just to get mostly stable.

Skyrim is also a Bethesda released game (3 was Bethesda, New Vegas was Obsidian). It was built on the Creation engine, which is largely an evolved Gamebryo with better graphics. It was a gigantic pile of bugs, but didn't seem to be as unstable as 3 or New Vegas. Given that Bethesda has had four years to develop this game, I'm expecting at least the stability that Skyrim had. I'd love to say that it is going to be less buggy, but sometimes people do things that are insane (see above where AsRock shot his dad with the BB gun, except the developers made sure that the character was essential), which can't be accounted for. I don't expect a completely bug free game, I just expect something stable enough so that when I'm not trying to break the game it works without an issue.

I will say my favorite bug though is the death animations. In Fallout 3 the animations were somehow intermingled with the collision detection system. If you toggled collision off the NPC would remain locked in space upon death. More than once I toggled the collisions off, and got a bunch of NPCs together into a single room. After murdering about a dozen of them, you turn the collision back on and it's like being inside of a blender. Body parts exploding everywhere, and if you're particularly lucky you can see a bunch of eyeballs ricocheting around on the floor, like the most disturbing game of billiards ever.

Wow, that was incredibly underwhelming. It doesn't really spoil much that we didn't already know, so here goes nothing too much:
  • The menus are truly terrible, and I mean seriously god-awful. I hope somebody gets fired for that shit unless the Windows version changes a lot of things (the footage is xbone).
  • Criticals use a recharging meter.
  • Weapons have a range

I'm expecting at least the stability that Skyrim had

I don't know about stability. I just remember running Skyrim above 60FPS, entering a building to find fruit baskets vibrating uncontrollably and then getting 1-shotted by a high velocity sweet roll. Learnt my lesson about Gamebryo/Creation engine that day.

That said, some glitches are just plain funny, and perhaps shouldn't be fixed for comedy value. It's the genuine game-breaking bugs I'd prefer them to focus on.

from the youtube comments:

"ough choice... make a character that looks like me, and fully immerse myself in the world... or play as a chick and look at her ass... gotta choose, gotta choose...
Edit: I think I'm going to play a female, make her look like Avatar Korra, and restore balance to the wasteland... and look at her ass."

at 2:32 shows that female asses are a real thing in this game now.

Anyone worried that this will just be a better looking FO3? Like there are new aspects but like BF3 is mostly like BF4 kind of thing.......*red laser dot instantly appears on the Defeatests forhead*

the fact that bases are no longer immutable indoors locations makes that basically impossible. building fortresses and having them get rekt will change the gameplay immensely.

May I ask where the proof is to justify that conclusion?

For a moment, be as cynical as you can be. I'm asking you this, because Bethesda generally promises a lot and demonstrates enough to get people hyped. What they deliver is less than what our hype was for.

What I've seen thus far:
1) Synthetics and the institute seem to be a major player, despite the very minor commentary in Fallout 3. Look up "Harkness" on the wiki for a refresher.
2) The cannon established that the institute and commonwealth are extensions of one another seems to have been completely rewritten by this trailer, though that could be washed away as the original dialog being a lie.
3) They've shown you constructing one base, and one wave of super mutants attacking it. Both of these things seem like set piece moments, that occur according to a script. Heck, we haven't even seen a lot about super mutants up to this point. It is difficult to justify this as anything more than Bethesda showing off the one cool bit, whereas 99% of the rest of the time your base will occasionally experience random spawns that barely register (why you installed those turrets), just like all their old games had random spawning enemies.
4) Who says that you've only got one fortress? I'm taking Skyrim as an example here. There were eventually multiple locations on which to build a house. Honestly though, the locations were inconsequential. The entire point of building a house was convenience. I'm hoping that Bethesda learned from that experience, but who can say? We definitely haven't gotten any indication that these base locations are at critical locations. Again, we fall back to the question of whether what we've seen is a one time event, or this is a regular thing that adds spice. I can't say giving them the benefit of doubt is warranted, because that's a heck of a lot of doubt.

In short, Bethesda has under delivered on too many promises for me not to see this trailer as a "best of" compilation from the game. One cinematic invasion, a couple of the bigger plot twists, and showing off one slightly more developed feature (which the modding community delivered on with Skyrim before Bethesda did). I still want the game, but it's getting harder to justify paying for it until the GOTY comes out.
