Yea, not having a server browser is one of the worst ideas..

Not having a server browser isn't terrible. CoD is just fine without one. Would I rather have one? Yes, but as long as matchmaking and being able to join a game with my friends works that's all I care about.

Joining as a group right now is a downright joke.

Its like the Call of Duty series progressed. Vcod(Original) and Call of Duty 2, even up to Cod4 MW had server browsers. But once Call Of Duty was the typical little kid run and gun shooter that it has become, it devolved to this terrible Matchmaking system (mostly from consoles)

Also, even worse, no server browser definitely means no custom maps, and I am also assuming mods. Fail after fail.

That actually should have been a given, this is DICE, and it's Frostbite. Neither have offered mods for quite a while now.

Wasn't DA:I Frostbite engine? There are 28 pages of mods for it listed on The Nexus. So, not totally out of the question to mod it.

Which is why I bought mine through EA Origin. Then again I did the pre-order thing a month and half out too. But hey you got a 30% discount as well, where as I did not. Everything is preloaded and ready to go, even had a update patch this morning. 8PM tonight..... :)

When you ordered that (we were on TS), it was $45, and ORigin wanted $140 for both the game and the season's pass.... now origin wants $160. (canadian dollars)

So forget that. Raising prices before launch, and higher than any other game ever ($80 for the base game!!!).... That's a big NOPE for me.

I went to GMG to buy it... saw the "coming soon" instead of "Buy NOW!", checked origin price, nearly keeled over!

I did my pre-order/purchase at 59.99 for the deluxe version then this morning I went ahead and purchased the 49.99 season pass, so total I am sitting at 110usd. It is a bit much but then again I remember feeding Blizzard all that cash for all those years, wowcrack. If anyone wants to add me as a friend on battlefront or not - flmatter

Yeah I am on the fence still too but starting to itch myself…plus I just got my PC back up with a new board (so missed beta which would have been a playability test too sigh) and I haven't bought a game at release for full price in a long time. Also want FO4 but that's a 'wait for sale' I think…

But I haven't seen the greatest feedback incl here…though saw some gameplay footage that looked great.

I still am on 670 4Gb SLI as well (hey I love my blocks and don't game every day even anymore) at 1440P but BF4 runs pretty well at High/Ultra mix and 2x MSAA.

Doesn't this release today? If so, the title could use a change to OFFICIAL. :D

Title changed. I'm very much enjoying the game. Runs great, plays great. I'm able to set the resolution to 125% on a 1440p monitor and keep above 80 fps with my SLI 970's and it looks fantastic! Can't wait to play it with some other folks.

ARS had a short review, what's your thoughts? Do you guys agree? I know its easy to really like something and have the honeymoon phase...I've been in enough AAA beta's and releases to know. But the folks here are also pretty well straight forward. Honestly a simplified BF kinda sounds like it'd get boring...even in Star Wars (blasphemy!!!!). But then again, if its executed properly, this could be the funnest shooter this side of the 2010s. I'm debating if I buy this or FO4 when I have funds again...

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/...w-stunning-as-the-death-star-dry-as-tatooine/

The good
  • The game absolutely nails the sights and sounds of Star Wars
  • Shooting is satisfactory, even if blaster fire takes getting used to
  • Wonderfully easy to get into
  • Walker Assault is still delightfully desperate
The bad
  • Combat and progression are too simple to stay interesting
  • Somewhat bland use of the Star Wars and Battlefront licenses
  • Some modes feel too similar, while others aren't worth your time
  • Secondary weapons that are often unusable thanks to a strict cooldown
The ugly
  • Getting sniped from 300 yards just as you've gotten the drop on another opponent

it is fun game to play, I messed around with it for an hour last night. There are a few bugs, but none that will make stop playing. Looks great on my 4k monitor.

I'm itching to buy this game... But I believe I want Fallout 4 more.. :banghead:

the game is even thinner than Titanfall and has no legs.

I think the target audience is the casual Star Wars fan who is going to see the new movie because Battlefield players don't seem to like it and Battlefront fans see it as an entirely new thing.

I was listening to the Giant Bombcast and Dan Ryckert mentioned if you have an EA access account you get a 10 hour trial of the game which seems to be a good value because the retail version only has 12+ hours of content to experience.

TLDR; looks pretty, has no substance. Most players I've spoken to say they thought it looked amazeballs, but got incredibly bored after a very short period of time.

The only reason I'd buy it is for this:

I was listening to the Giant Bombcast and Dan Ryckert mentioned if you have an EA access account you get a 10 hour trial of the game which seems to be a good value because the retail version only has 12+ hours of content to experience.

I saw mention of this and figured "EA Access" was some console thing..?

Edit: FWIW, plenty of people on other reputable forums are immensely impressed with the performance to visuals ratio (and also that it may well be the "best looking game yet") which is even more noteworthy for an EA/DICE release which always seem rushed (and this deal only inked in 2013).

Definitely needs more content and I think I def made the right decision to wait for a sale but they get major props for the polish on this one. It's how it should be done for a AAA, yet this is the exception to the rule. Look at Fallout 4.
