ASUS has released the new EAH 2900XT/G/HTVDI/512M-a cutting-edge graphics card that features the latest generation AMD HD2900XT GPU. The new ATI Radeon HD 2900 GPU is designed to unleash the gaming power of DirectX 10; and excellent audio/video experience through HDMI support enabled by Avivo HD technology-providing gamers with an unparalleled gaming experience. The release of the ASUS EAH2900XT will come bundled with 4 explosive game titles which include the highly anticipated first person shooter game S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl, and Valve's "The Black Box" game bundle suite-consisting of 3 first rate games: Half Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 and Portal.

Exclusive Only to ASUS EAH2900XT: Special 4 Game Bundle
S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl from THQ

One of the major selling points of the ASUS EAH2900XT is that it will be bundled with THQ and GSC Game World's critically-acclaimed survival horror First-Person Shooter (FPS) game S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl."S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl is a very visually engaging open-ended FPS, so the graphical portions of the game are very detailed and requires a graphics card with powerful performance and high quality to bring out the best portions of the game," said Ian Curran, Senior Vice President of international publishing, THQ. "ASUS's EAH2900XT is certainly up to the task, and THQ is pleased to bundle S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl with ASUS's high-end performance graphics card."

"The Black Box" from Valve
Additionally, Valve offers a voucher coupon that allows users free copies of 3 upcoming titles from Valve's "The Black Box" game bundle. This offer includes Half Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 and Portal, and the games will be available via downloads through Steam-Valve's online platform for PC games, when they become available later in 2007. In the meantime, users will be able to enjoy a free copy of Valve's Day of Defeat.

Full DirectX 10 and Windows Vista Compatibility
The ASUS EAH2900XT comes equipped with AMD's latest ATI Radeon HD 2900XT GPU-which delivers powerful graphics performance, improved stability and an immersive HD gaming experience for Windows Vista. The latest ATI Catalyst software is designed for quick setup of graphics, video and multiple displays; and automatically configures optimal system settings for lifelike DirectX 10 gaming and visually stunning Windows Aero user interfaces.

Exclusive ASUS Features for Versatile Graphics Experience
The new ASUS EAH2900XT series also incorporates Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, an exclusive feature found only on ASUS solutions. With Splendid, images enabled by ASUS graphics cards are fine-tuned to deliver vibrant visual representations in conditions most favorable to the human eye. Splendid also works on top of AMD's Avivo HD technology to offer sharp decoded videos.

Besides being bundled together with the latest games, the ASUS EAH2900XT also includes the exclusive ASUS Gamer OSD. This feature is able to deliver on-the-spot overclocking and chat options during gameplay-allowing users real-time performance upgrades when they require it.

depends what you put face to face with the HD2900XT, a 8800GTX is definately not in the same price range but performances comes at a price.

having said that though, if i didnt have this 8800, then i would buy it from komplett, the extra memory over a gts 320 may prove handy (sure 320's perform as well as other 512 meg cards, but thats because they have a 320bit memory controller as opposed to 7900/x19x0's having 256bit memory, these new ones have 512 bit memory controllers)

however i have just noticed that scan has some 640meg 8800gts's for £215 now...

WTF I don’t get why people are not happy that the 2900 XT is not faster then a GTX because its “NOT SUPOST TO BE” This card is meant to basically compete with the 8800 GTS not the GTX I think some people need to re read the title, it says 2900xt NOT 2900xtx. ATI/AMD did there job the 2900 xt is faster then a GTS so I don’t see why anyone would have any complaints not only does it beat it has better image quality. I'm not a fan boy I buy whatever is the best price vs performance, so far ATI has done it with the 2900xt I will buy one vary soon

ok fair point, maybe i should have worded it different, what i meant was : i expected ati to bring out A gtx killer, not this card specifically, and from tests on oblivion and stalker, it ISNT faster than a gts, and the image quality isnt better either : http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTM0MSw4LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

Benchmark Scores Fast. I don't need epeen.
"S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl is a very visually engaging open-ended FPS, so the graphical portions of the game are very detailed and requires a graphics card with powerful performance and high quality to bring out the best portions of the game," said Ian Curran, Senior Vice President of international publishing, THQ. "ASUS´s EAH2900XT is certainly up to the task, and THQ is pleased to bundle S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl with ASUS´s high-end performance graphics card."

Allow me to break this marketing guff down, the oppertunity is just too good to pass up, and anyone who actually owns STALKER will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Translation:

"Yes, we openly admit STALKER has serious performance issues once deliberately disabled additional eye candy and lighting effects are re-enabled in the user.itx file."

AH thanks Grings that was a good read from Hardocp it has changed my view of the 2900xt. The impression I got from the review done buy Techpowerup up on this card made me think it was better then the 8800GTS but they must have been comparing it to the 8800GTS 320 mb card not the 640mb. That’s amazing the 8800GTS 640mb not only beats it but does it so much more efficiently with less power draw and less heat, I retract any Previous statement I made about the 2900xt being faster. :ohwell:

dont speak too soon, a driver update or two and it could be up there with it/a bit faster, still you'd think they've had time to get it competitive by now

Well even if some driver updates makes the 2900xt as fast as the 8800GTS 640 I would still rather have the GTS just because it produces less heat and is way more efficient. I didn’t realize the 2900xt was such a power sucking monster until I seen the review at Hardocp.com. So really unless there are some major driver updates that impact the performance enough were it beats the 8800GTS buy a good margin that would be the only way I would buy a 2900xt. I’ll be buying a new card in the late summer some time so will see.
