Upgrade Time.....(Finally)....need advice.

Why are you trying to tell some that is looking for a boost on performance.. upgrading from i3 and h61 chipset… to get more ram when 8GB are enough for playing several games on low, mid resolution and getting new hardware such as i5 and excellent chipset such z97?

why try to confuse someone that has a pretty tight budget and want get the best from that peny? that's why I don’t understand here… he does not even on plans to game on ultra or high settings due its mid range video card, and the last comment mentioning games that are well known for memory optimization issues…

We were just giving him options and thoughts, it's a forum. Don't be so heated about it

cpu i think is done for.

overheating pretty bad

idles at around 42c......its 63c as i type this.even hit the 100 mark whilst gaming!!!

done the obvious...hasn't improved....its old anyways

is the above deal worth the money or should i get the z97mx board

That bundle looks good, nice price!! I say go for it, my 4690k @4.5Ghz runs everything beautifully so you should see a lot more stable fps in games, even with that GPU.

No point paying for someone to OC that CPU

That bundle looks good, nice price!! I say go for it, my 4690k @4.5Ghz runs everything beautifully so you should see a lot more stable fps in games, even with that GPU.

You're paying £50 over the odds for nothing when you can buy them components separately for less! go and look on Amzon if you don't believe me!

@NdMk2o1o I see your point, but you could argue he get's a guaranteed 4.5 overclock though....sometimes, even with devil's canyon, you hit a brick wall below that.

No it's not guaranteed the only review for the bundle stated it wasn't overclocked out of the box! And he could spend that money on a better board than the Asus Z97-P and get a better more stable OC than the Z97-P could manage, there's little point imo paying this much for a low-mid range board

Wow that's bad and I missed it, in all fairness though they should have pulled the company up on it. If it claims to come overclocked from the warehouse then it should. I wonder if him and his mate cleared the bios when installing? Either way, it should run nice and will probably tweak above 4.5ghz if he has a little play with it and gets lucky.

I've also got to say though that with these chips, oc stability lies more in the chip itself than the board. I only got a semi decent board because it was all red and black and shiny (j/k)

Again you're getting a low end Z97 board, honestly spend the £50 you will save from that bundle on a higher end Gigabyte, Asus or MSI board with better features, power circuitry etc I mean you may as well as you were going to spend that money anyway with the bundle!
