Has Radeon Crimson changed your perception of AMD drivers?

AMD's latest Crimson Edition Drivers bring numerous improvements, the most noticeable being the Radeon Settings Control panel.

Has this move affected how you see AMD's drivers in terms of stability and quality?

the drivers themselves where always fine, the same cant be said about the config interface (catalyst control center), which sucked ass. so much so that i used to use radeonpro and/or atitraytools to do the job.
using .net for such a simplistic use case was a bad decision, i bet if the config interface (ccc) was made in awt (java) more people would complain, but since ".net is the future" most kept quiet.

The new Radeon Settings interface is nice and all, but CCC was not that bad in my mind. I did not notice any changes in how fas it loads compared to Radeon Settings.

Didn't have any trouble before now, not having any trouble with.
Some of the new features for advanced users are great (per game OC profiles? F yeah!)

I wish crossfire would get a little more testing and love however, as idle power usage seems to be totally ignored with random things making the second GPU power up when it should be idle.

Anyway, regarding Crimson driver, it looks nice. although I havent played much yet. After frame pacing was introduced, AMD drivers were I think better for multi-gpus. I wish they will have more love to multi-gpu users in the future

I'm satisfied...for the most part.

~~Except that one of my favorite games, Assetto Corsa, doesn't work now.~~ Nevermind...user error, works just fine. :oops:

Shader caching seems to do wonders for everything else though.

I miss having my Edge Detect AA option. But I can live without it.

I don't like the layout nor do i like that it takes me back to vanilla CCC when i want to change my display settings, "additional settings".

Don't really see any improvements, infact CCC hanged on me twice so far but radeon settings itself was still fine.

According to many, AMD drivers suck, always have sucked and always will suck.

/jk sort of. Anyways, I do not really have driver issues but in the past, when I had crossfire, I would sometimes have to wait to use a game with crossfire though. I would do crossfire now but, 2 x Reference R9 290's get to hot and my case is not designed for that. (Define r3.)

Edit: the max fan setting seems to be missing though. I do not mean the manual fan setting but the one that allows the fan to go above the max 47% on my R9 290.

Eliminating their high CPU overhead and the new shader cache seems to help varying amounts according to reviews. I personally liked the Catalyst Control Center, and the whole half a second it took to launch was never a big issue for me either.

I hope their bring back the missing video features and get the rest either ported over to Crimson, or give users the option to use CCC. I was expecting a bit more from it, and it feels very "beta" at this point, so perhaps in a few months when a completed version is released we will feel differently. The only mistake made so far is the lack of completion, it feels very much like old ATI software features, and if they fail to complete it.......

While not windows related, they have finally fixed corrupted mouse cursor when using two or more monitors in linux. I have been waiting for this for two years. Drivers have always been fine for me in windows.

Have found one thing that was better in CCC, when setting values in overdrive you ONLY get to use the sliders, whereas in CCC there was a numerical input box as well.

Never had that many issues with Catalyst apart from that it took a while to popup after you opened it, as for Crimson i already had an issue where it would not go beyond the middle clock profile (501mhz) even when i was running games but a reinstalled fixed it.

OC profiles helps me with memory oc, some games like 1550, others 1350, so it's a big plus for me.

Not what I wanted to hear. I had forgotten about that issue.

I DO have a serious issue with FO4 tho. At 1080 it runs like a champ. If I bump it up to 1440 it locks at 20FPS... The last drivers did this if I had Freesync enabled now even if I disable it I'm still locked at 20...

After some investigation, I'm not convinced that it's AMD's drivers but rather the WDDM 2.0 driver model itself. I think Elite: Dangerous is just not playing nice with the new driver model which would be Frontier's problem. The fact that there are Windows 10 users with nVidia cards experiencing the same issues seems to indicate an issue with the game.

Never had any major problems with AMD/ATI drivers since my first ATI card which is the 9550. Current Crimson driver is almost excellent except FRTC doesn't work if set in each game profile. Anyway, something I could shrug jt off since I don't usually use that feature. Being able to set it per game would be nice though. Hope it will be fixed on the next driver update.
