I finished FF-X and X-2 to every bit... I remember on X-2 getting the 100 floor dungeon... and getting all endings... I don't wan to see it again

HL1 is the best computer game ever made no question about that.
HL2 kept the standard

Who can you ever top that ?, Gabe Newell has to pull a rabbit out of his ass just to keep up. That kind of games is sadly a thing of the past as they become more complex.
I have an old computer just laying arround, a core4quad, mabye I should put XP on it, and enjoy playing old but good games that I havent played in years, just like a fun machine.

hl3 has been a thing for a while, they use it to test stuff in house. vr being the latest thing.

They put themselves into a position where they don't have to make any games. They make way more money off the Steam platform. there really is no incentive for them to make another game.

I honestly cant see what the big deal is about the HL series. It's pretty "meh" to me but to each their own.

Someone should just make HL3 in gary's mod and call it a day .

Well, because honestly very few games have ever even made it close to the standards of HL2.

It excels in level design, pacing, shooting mechanics, movement, lighting, and has a very good story integrated into its shooter core, has great lighting and even today, the graphics aren't half bad either

Incidentally, I see this happening with CDPR eventually too. Their Magnum Opus was The Witcher 3, as Steam's was HL2. Yes they are working on Cyberpunk 2077, but I think that will be it. They are making tons of money off of GOG, and as it gets bigger, they continually are scoring new games at release the same as other platforms, as well as getting more and more publiahers to open their libraries to them drm-free.

I would like to think that Valve developed the Source 2 engine for a reason but it may not be for the reason I hope for (Half Life 2 ep 3 and Left 4 Dead 3) . Gordon Freeman's story started in 1998 and the last we got was in 2007. Eight years ago is when Valve left the story with a cliffhanger. It's my understanding that Newell lets his employees work on whatever project they want to. I have to wonder why some of the employees that put so much time and care into Half Life 1 and 2 don't want to see it come to a conclusion befitting such a great series.
