Latest GPU-Z does not run on Vista

I downloaded GPU-Z to my laptop running Vista 32bit, but when I double-click on it nothing happens. What gives?

I have UAC disabled. It MIGHT be because I haven't gotten SP2 installed yet, but I'll find out soon because it's installing now.

XP is a useful OS. Vista is not, it is slower than 7 in every benchmark so why keep support?

It's not that GPU-Z won't run on Vista, it's that Vista isn't determined enough to run GPU-Z. It needs more determination.

srs note just get win7 and be done with it. ignore all that win10 hype since everyone is on the fanboy train and get what you want. if you like vista then keep it because it's your computer and your choice of os and everyone should shut their fleshy vacuums that output sound about their opinion onions and let op be themselves.

It's a laptop Vista. Desktop Vista would work.

Vista SP2+all updates is basically just like Windows 7, except is lacks a few functions and gobbles up more system resources.

Please tell us exact laptop brand and model, might be helpful in identifying the problem.

Why would you run without SP2? This is almost certainly the problem.

You must install the multitude of updates following it too.

Opposite here - new versions of GPU-Z come out too rarely not to always use latest.

I installed 64bit Vista on it when the new CPU arrived, and it works. So maybe there's an incompatibility with the 32bit version?

The reason why I haven't responded to you is because the brand and model aren't relevant to this discussion. This is purely a software issue, not a hardware one, which was proven by the fact it worked when I installed 64bit Vista.

For thousands of other Vista users, GPU-Z works fine.
When you have a software (or hardware) problem, giving your system specs, especially (but not only) when asked is a proper & courteous way to get help.
If you do not need help, do not post your specs or simply do not ask for any help, please. You are helping neither yourself nor anyone else reading this thread behaving in such a foolishly stubborn way.
