Overclocking has been reserved mostly for high-end unlocked CPUs including the latest Skylake K series processors and many overclockers and high-performance gamers want this processors because of their easy overclocking capabilities via their unlocked multiplier. The time has come to empower everyone, BIOSTAR makes overclocking a reality on non-K 6th-generation Intel Core CPUs and makes it even easier now with the announcement of BIOSTAR HyperOC Technology for overclockers and performance seekers that enables overclocking on non-K Intel 6th-Generation Core i7/i5/i3/Pentium Skylake processors on BIOSTAR Z170 motherboards.

Take your non-K Core i5 and i7 and give it that boost you need without an unlocked multiplier to overclock. With BIOSTAR HyperOC, you can take entry-level processors like the 3.3GHz Pentium G4400 and increase its clock speed up to 36%*, bringing it to a lofty 4.48Ghz clock speed. The same can be done with a Core i3-6100T from a 3.2GHz frequency, via HyperOC, you can now enjoy up to 4.32Ghz. That's a 35% overclock.

A simple BIOS update on compatible BIOSTAR Z170 motherboards unleashes the full potential of your Skylake CPU taking your performance to the next level without an unlocked multiplier. Increase performance up to 35%* on capable non-K processors and experience the fun of overclocking made possible by BIOSTAR HyperOC Technology.

HyperOC Technology is enabled via BIOS update on BIOSTAR Z170 motherboards.

The paranoid in me thinks intel will allow this to work for a while to boost sales of skylake CPU's .
Then clamp down with the connivance of Microsoft and a microcode update via win 10 update (undocumented of course ) to Disable overclocking
same as those duel core pentium G****
you know the ones that could be overclocked in win 7 and 8.1 then stopped under win 10

Enjoy it while you can

But those Dual Core Pentium G**** can be overclocked in Windows 10 now, that was more a mistake rather than a deliberate effort otherwise Microsoft would not have solved it, anyway not sure that Microsoft has anything to gain or lose by trying to control what a user does to an Intel CPU, to the contrary, if that were the case I think they would see a lot of Win 10 users reverting back to 7/8 if it meant overclocking a non K processor.

Yes, and it's through an independent baseclock increase from what I've read, not messing with a multiplier.

I wish the CPU images in this article were readable.

I can see enough to tell that there are bclk changes "119-160mhz", also I can see they are all (ES) :S.... But I have seen the same from non ES. It's a good sign :) Think I'm going to start to build a new Skylake system next week. yay! lol.

Nice. If I wasn't so happy with my current rig, I'd be moving on up. Other than DDR4 support, there really hasn't been much of a compelling reason to upgrade till Skylake. Ivy Bridge K is so damn easy to overclock.

X99 does not have the same clockgen layout as Skylake. Best case scenario Skylake-E will have the same clockgen layout as regular skylake and we will have the ability overclock 20 core Xeons.

I hope this best case scenario happen Xeon would offer way more than a 6950x. Can't imagine 20 cores at 4GHz that is crazy.

I'm sure they'll close that loophole before skylake-e/kaby lake.
Historically they always have :(
AMD might have something next year.

Currently all of the X99 parts are K parts . I don't see this changing with Skylake-E .

Part of me is happy to see this, another part of me doesn't think it will last. I don't want to pay extra to overclock, that was (at least for me) the whole point of overclocking to begin with! I will not deny the ease of overclocking the K series, but I started overclocking well before the original i7 lineup. Clocking via FSB wasn't that hard!
