Anyone tried a DVI Dual-Link to DP Active adapter?

I am trying to figure out if i should get a Yamakasi Catleap Q271 with native DP port or just buying a Accell UltraAV Adapter It costs about $150 / €140 in my country.

I know I need a active adapter to even be able to reach 2560x1440 but will it allow me to run my screen at 120hz, ik that Accell says it's 60hz at 2560x1440 pixel but my screen runs this resolution fine in 120hz off my MSI GTX 970.

I have tried a DP to DVI-D Cable that cost about $26 / €24 that's rated to 4K but my Yamakasi refuses to turn on, but my Philips 21,5inch 1080p screen turns on just fine.

I can also get this adapter it only costs about $22 / €20 and I will be able to use my Belkin DVI-D Pro cable that works with my screen right now, but I am not sure if it will work with my screen.

Well I'd never waste 140€ on a adapter, thats way too much. The Other options: try it out, I guess. Risk it, you can't lose much.

Nope, that's about right. Anything to DisplayPort is going to be more expensive than DisplayPort to anything. Here's converters that would work (but both are limited to single-link DVI which is 1920x1200):

Make sure it says "DVI to DisplayPort," not "DisplayPort to DVI." They're not interchangeable.

DisplayPort to DVI are much cheaper. In all cases, I find buying a video card that has what you need is less hassle/more reliable.

I really don't get what the problem is though. You have a video card that only has DisplayPort and a monitor that only has DVI in?

It's for the future and I have had really bad luck with cards, i tried a couple of GTX 980's and they didn't work with DVI at all but my MSI GTX 970 does and then i tried the DVI to DP cable i got with my 1080p monitor and they work fine with that one, so it's just I don't want to suddenly see a good card mby not next generation or a custom pcb that have like 4 or 5 mini-dp's and no DVI that i want.

Ik it's every few cards like AMD's Fury but it's still possible.

That's why i am wondering this alternative to keep using my wonderful screen the Q271 i can get with DP has been testet at max 85hz and should do higher but not guarantied.

The Q271 is not overclockable. Only the Catleap Q270 with the single input DVI is. The Q271 is multi-input (HDMI and DVI) and on korean monitors these are not overclockable (or may show a 'pseudo-overclock' with frame skipping).

Active adapters are limited to 85Hz @ 2560x1440, the ones I have used.

some of them are and some of Q271 has a DP if it's not news to u.

But they ain't easy to get and cost more than the Q270.

I agree with Jetster; no adapters - especially at those prices. IMO, adapters are temporary solutions. The proper solution is to buy a graphics card that supports your monitor, or a monitor that supports your card, or new monitor and new card with compatible interfaces.
