Most of the IHS are soldered on... unless you have a E4xxx IIRC... so, I wouldn't try removing it

yeah, I read a while back about Intel soldering their IHS onto the core, some people on another forum put their best efforts into removing them from the prescott processors due to the insane temperatures people were getting... most people failed due to the fact that the solder Intel uses has a melting point VERY close to that of silicon...

You would instantly kill your cpu while trying to melt the solder between the chip and heatspreader.:cool:
