I don't understand why in D they would space the fans like that. Fan on the cooler should have been in pull with the rear intake fan pushing into nothing that close they will just cause turbulence and hurt performance.

I think in D they are trying to show the chassis completely reversed in airflow. Rear fan to the CPU cooler, then the front is the exhaust.

I guess for a pictures case that its simpler to show that. In performance that CPU HS fan should be in pull IMO.

I give them the benefit of doubt and think that they tested and measured the whole thing but I still can't understand why blowing in hot air (option A and B) should ever be considered. Do I want a high case temperature? Use a case with some fans. Option C will not work with a decent size CPU cooler (but with a second AIO, what a noise). I understand that many think that a small box is gods gift to a boys desk and that today's good HW can run at higher temperature then 10 years ago but why test it?.

I agree with mstenholm, option A doesn't show the warm air entering the case, but they mention it as an increase in ambient temp.
Out of option A and B, B would be the cooler set up, but they state A is the coolest. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Mine does pretty damn good but I only have one GTX 980Ti to contest with, but I'm able to run the fan controller on low for all 3 case fans and maintain good temps and very low noise for an all air cooled setup.

the pics are all about how to fit an AIO gpu cooler.. where to put it and the pros and cons of the various options.. for example take the AIO at the front of the case.. does it blow air into the case or does it pull air out out the case.. pulling air in would maximize gpu cooling but warm up the case a little at the expense of cpu cooling.. doing it the other way around would have the opposite effect.. it looks to me that there is no "best" way just several options each with their own pros and cons..

i think it also takes into account the length of the pipes.. i recon with both cpu and gpu under AIO systems the cpu cooler would be at the rear top blowing room temp air through the cooler and into the case with the gpu cooler at front doing the same.. another top fan could take the warm air out of the case..

it just struck me as a good digram that may be of use to some folks.. which is why i bunged it up..

A is weakest since tons of hot air from gpu will stay in case and CPU temperature will utterly suffer.
B is probably best but still weak. Why ? because this time we force hot air to go outside the case but large CPU heatsink will block airflow to radiator so GPU temp will increase a lot (10-15C) compare to no heatsink block airflow.
C is not good also like A (tons of hot air from GPU is not that good).
D is like B but reverse not sure about result since this time no heatsink block airflow to radiator.

Best is if you go AIO on GPU then you should go AIO on CPU also.
I have not so good exp in the past with 780 Ti + Kraken G10 + Kraken X40 with Coolermaster V6GT (large CPU heatsink) inside H440 case.
