Benchmark Scores Firestike 29500.. timepsy 14000..
you would have to go pretty high on the DDR4 speed scale to get more than what you are getting..

DDR4 can run faster on less voltage but in real world performance i dont think it shows much if any gain.. it is the future though.. DDR3 is the past..

however i am not planning to rush out and change my DDR3 system any time soon.. :)

trog

Ok so what kind of bandwidth are you getting in aida64?

This is from Crucial Ballistix Sport 2400MHz CAS16. Figured I would offer up the same speed for results.

So even at the same speed and higher timings ddr4 is still faster? Interesting. Do you have the paid version? I downloaded the trial and can only run single benches. My read is 35500, write is 33something. I only beat you in latency I'm at 49.1 lol

Well your overclocked and in quad channel I see. I'm sure that makes a difference also.

oh right, let me see what I have on Skylake instead.....

2666 is the closest I had. As far as latency, this isnt a fair comparison, you need to do the math.

Guys. Intel speed step and turbo burst are both enabled in bios yet I don't see any movement on the cpu. Stays at 3.5 ghz. Shouldn't running prime 95 kick in turbo burst? Also at idle shouldn't the speed and voltage drop? Also I can't get the bios to display at 1080p.

If you are still at stock levels, go into BIOS and reset optimized defaults and see what happens. Could be that you missed a setting playing around from before.

Boost multi is probably what you'll want to play with. People usually see somewhere in the mid 4GHz with those CPUs and decent cooling. You'll likely also want to max out some of the boost power limits too (since we want to sustain our high clock speeds forever).

The Intel Extreme Tuning Utility puts a lot of these settings in a fairly organized window for you and lets you play with things on the fly. I'd dial in something rough there and then start setting things in the BIOS later.

Edit: Turbo freqs make things.. twitchy. Also, welcome back!

Thanks xvi. I don't remember you from back in the day. I'll grab the Intel XTU. On auto multiplier I'm at 3.9 ghz temps are in the high 20's idle full load high 60's low 70's. Speed step and turbo boost are enabled and no fluctuation.

You can set that multi to 40-42 without changing much else, leaving it at auto there is no OC the 3.9ghz is the CPU max turbo frequency, no need to change the bus speed or anything else and auto vcore should do you well until you want to go higher then you use a normal vcore with an offset of 0.01** (example) to add the extra voltage at the higher clock speed.

Back at 3.5, speed step and turbo burst still not working.

Doesn't speed step down clock the cpu?

In windows start menu type power and click on high performance. It might sort the problem.

it defo isnt mine..... :)

lol not mine either. God you were right dude. In power management I was on high performance. Switched to balanced and I'm idling 800mhz and 25c lol. Gonna see if turbo burst works now. I have bios set at 35 multiplier. Does that lock the cpu at 3.5?

Set multi core enhancement to enabled and that set multiplier to auto. Now I'm anywhere from 800mhz to 3.9ghz. Not quite sure if I like that. What do you guys prefer?

Set multi core enhancement to enabled and that set multiplier to auto. Now I'm anywhere from 800mhz to 3.9ghz. Not quite sure if I like that. What do you guys prefer?
Thats a good setting, most people use that as it has the maximum power when needed and saves a lot of energy if not.
