Help identifying capacitor, and a chip

found this rv042 vpn router. its not powering on, when i disassembled it i found a few culprits. attached are the pictures of some things i found.

These are buldged up so definately have to be replaced, luckly i do have them.

Do you think this guy is toast? where can i find a replacement?

well the first is a 1000 micro farad capacitor maker looks to be panasonic. the voltage should be on it look for a value maybe 10v

The other i cant quite make out the last digit on the first line. if you can get a better picture or look around the board for another chip (matching the first line of the one pictured) I can help identify that.

after looking closer it appears to say 9435GM

thats your issue then the caps are worn and starting to bulge, but the real issue is that chip its a silicon standard mosfet.

nevermind found it on ebay from china. any tips on how to replace it? heatgun?

probably should properly desolder it, but if you dont have the skills or equip and you arent fixated on it working after you can attempt the easy way.

cut the pins with a razor blade and pull the chip off. then solder the new chip on connecting to the old legs left over. this is the messy way too do it but its good practice and if it powers on after all the better.

You will need a soldering iron, adjustable temp maybe 25 watts.

Do some google searches on how to solder/desolder surface mount chips. Practice on an old junk circuit board if you can.

This is the best advice. I am terrible at soldering and wrecked many good parts before I got passable. I should've used junk boards to get my skills up first, not high end video cards of the time... lol. (I was attempting to swap a bios eprom when I was a bios modding noob, for those curious)
