Samsung 840 Evo/850 Evo or 850 Pro?

Hi everyone.
I would like to buy one of those SSD mentioned on the thread's tittle, as I know many of you here has a Samsung SSD and I would like to hear some advices about which one would be the best option.

The 850 evo comes with 5 years warranty, the more expensive 850 pro comes with 10 years warranty.
You should not buy an 840 anymore.

850 Evo 250gb cost 90€ and the Pro cost 130€, at this point is there any big difference in performance between those two?

There is not much of a difference in speed of the two.

Crucial MLC SSDs are "equally" good. The new TLC models (BX200) are relative new to the market, so we 'll ve to drink a bit of tea until giving a final verdict.

And as P4-630 said - don't buy Samsungs 840 Series SSDs. Only exception from that rule would be a good deal on the 840 Pro. Reason for that are teachnical issues some of them can be "bypassed/fixed" via firmware update but not really solved.

That might be the cheaper option, but the best value is the Pro, it has higher IOP's, slightly faster speed, 33% more MTBF will handle twice the amount of writes and has double the warranty.

I know it has 10 years warranty but in 10 years i replace SSD at least 5 times, I don't think people keeps SSD longer than 3 years or even less.

There's something wrong with you if you can't figure out a way to cash in a 10 year warranty.

Maybe if there is an "accident" in the 5th year or more... they won't be able to replace it with same drive... and 250GB may be extinct too...

Maybe voltage finds its way to a SATA pin... Or power gets reversed "somehow".. As long as the warranty seal isn't broken they're not going to dig into it before issuing the replacement.

Well, After about 2-3gb the 850evo will slow down some cause the s little as it has a very fast write cache that once gets full will snow down, reading on anandtech it will go down to around 300MB/s when its full. But most normal users won't ever see that come in to play. Less you are massive power use writeing stuff to drive constantly at high rates. For say OS drive 850 evo is prefect for that at a good price point. (keep in mind i own 256gb 840 pro and a 1tb 850 evo, love them both.)
