LG Electronics unveiled the 24UD58-B, its entry-level 24-inch 4K Ultra HD monitor, which could be priced around the $300 mark. Its specifications are anything but "entry-level," with an IPS panel that puts out 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 60 Hz, with 10-bit color support (1.07 billion colors), active blue light reduction, 5 ms response time, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 178°/178° viewing angles, and dynamic mega-contrast ratio. On the input side of things, the monitor supports AMD FreeSync technology, HDMI 2.0, and DisplayPort 1.2a.

wow, Freesync+4k+IPS+300$ now that's an interesting display even if it has typical LG monitor with crappy PWM for backlight control.

I'd pay $500 for a 27" or 32" variant. 24" seems too little for 4k.
But since video cards I buy can't really push 4k gaming, I can hold out a little longer.

What's people's issue with the size?

My dad would always bitch when I had the 19" CRT at 1600x1200. The OSes will catch up eventually, otherwise just use some UI scaling....

But I guess when you're that blind you can't see the pixel density anyways. I loved the old 17" Syncmaster I had almost a decade ago, took me a while to part with it.

I'll take as much resolution as I can get on whatever sized screen I can get. Who would bitch about having too much resolution?! Blind people! Sorry blind people, but don't rage on us, get better glasses!

Speaking of which, Samsungs U28E590D is on sale for 370 at newegg right now!

The Windows DPI scaling is horrid to say the least. Not entirely M$ fault to be honest, but mostly the 3rd party apps and web pages, specially the ones that use Flash, Java or similar. Scaling is just pure garbage crap.

It's good if you use it for gaming and movies only. I use 1440p 27" monitor and still think it's too small sometimes. If I want to go 4K, I'll need at least 30".

Watching an 1080p movie on a 4K screen is like watching a DVD on a 1080p screen. You loose all the crispness and clarity of the Bluray.
Talking from experience here since I have an 3440x1440 screen which is fitting perfectly all those cinema movies on BR.

Downscaling 2160p displays to 1080p still yields a satisfactory image by all accounts I've read. That's probably especially true on a smaller display. 1080p is insufficient on basically any monitor beyond 25", but this one's 24".

So their problem with the monitor is that they use crappy software?

It's funny to live in a world where 1440p and 4k are too much pixels for 24 inch monitors, but 1080p just isnt enough for smartphone screens anymore.

I loved it when everybody in the press was praising just how much sharper the Xperia Z5 Premium's screen was at the launch event, until a Sony representative showed up and told them they were looking at the plain Z5, the Premium was somewhere else on the floor. Your brain will do that to you when you strongly want to believe in something.

I was just going to ask about scaling actually...my current display is 1440p 25" and I don't think I'd want to go any higher res for this size unless I knew that display scaling would work well. Thanks though :)

I rather like my 1440P phone screen using my remote desktop is actually super useful on it.

I have zero issues with windows 10 scaling on my 23.8" 4k.

What the eye distance you're using the phone, then the same question for the monitor? Anyways, since it was already proven, human eye can distinguish individual dots up ~300 PPI from the minimum eye view distance of 5-10cm. If you increase the viewing distance, the DPI can also gets lower.
