X800pro vivo Overclock Strange!!!!!

I know most of you are like no not another x800pro vivo mod thread. AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! but trust me this one is different and like the title suggests this one is rather bizzarr. I have already successfully modded my card to x800xt no problems there. But i am very annoyed at the bad overclock on the core, i think i must have the worst overclocking x800pro core known to man. It will not budge a hair past 508 without lock-up now my memory is fine i have it currently sitting at 570 stable. i used to have it at 590 on the stock cooler but arctic silencer buggered that up some how. If you can get my card to x800xt pe then i would be greatly thankful and brand you a Overclocking Genius. Untill then pls help as i bought the card hoping to get it to xt pe . oh and btw it's currently using an xt bios which i have to underclock to 490 for stability during games or i get lock-ups then too

Try lowering the mem clock a bit, soemtimes it helps. But you may need a voltmod to get the PE clocks.

well i just turned on my comp and it's at 32 but usually goes up to abot 36-40 idling. Load temps are 55-56 after 10mins of scanning for artifacts on ati tool. Pls help cos i would like to get the most out of my card. And i am not willing to voltmod it. but pls help as much as possible.

You may have to vmod it to get the most out of it, or what you want out of it...

My ViVo did 560/600 without a Vmod, but it seems like that's your solution. Some of the cards run at 1.31V stock, some at 1.38 (like mine). Yours probably just has a low stock Vgpu or is undervolting. So yes, Vmod is your solution.

If you have a DMM its fairly easy, if I'm not mistaking there's a guide on the main site telling you how to... Without a DMM though, no, unfortunately not.

i have a prob to with my pro vivo i vmod both gpu and mem but i did this with a xtpe bios. i couldnt get the mem over 550 .then i flashed to a 800xt bios and i could get to 570 .is there a way or a bios that let u hit 600 on the mem with ease these mem are 1.6 so it should hit it. or someone could give me their timmings at 600 to see if that helps

The bios tells the ram the timings and so, and also how certain things are handled specifically. There are only minor differences between biosses, but they are there. I know out of personal experience that the HIS ICEQ XT PE bios will attain score X at 600Mhz, while the Gigabyte XT PE bios need 610Mhz for that, difference is that the Gigabyte will also achieve higher clocks. Overal though the HIS bios was faster. There's an excellent bios archive here at TPU so try out a few more. I strongly reccomend the HIS ICEQ but if your card won't run 560Mhz ram stock, that could be a problem. Fixing a Vmod with set higher startup voltage could fix that though.

You unlocked the 4 remaining pipelines, so you know how to flash your card. Just try flashing to different biosses and check the results. I don't know if bios regulates GPU starting voltage, but if so, that could be a big factor. Try this bios, its the one I used (see attachment).

Warning: Do not use this bios is your ram is 2.0ns (possible). Only 1.6ns ram will run this bios properly.

ok well that bios was a XT PE bios and it never worked ati tool cut out at the same place 507-508. i even tried upping agp voltage to 1.6 for stability but nope. so i'm about to flash back right now. i think my card is beyond help.

hm ok. i've been doing some reading and am considering this volt pencil mod thing. I hear it gets you to 585 stable in the core as long as you have gd cooling. could anyone tell me my chances of getting xtpe after i do the voltmod? if its 90% or over i'll do it. just need to get my arse to stationary box to buy that pencil. lol

I'd say 99%. you only need 520Mhz for XT PE core speed, so that's only a little bit. The only way you could fail is giving it too much voltage, so you have to draw thin lines at a time, measuring and trying after each time of upping it. You can't do this with the system powered, which is why I prefer hardmods. A few thin lines should work to get your core up. Your memory at 570 should be able to run XT PE... What's your stock Vgpu?

You can't fail at a vmod unless you overvolt and fry something. Or if you solider and mess up. But its not like unlocking pipes, where theres a chance of defective pipes, either you increase the voltage or you don't.

i'm not sure what my stock voltage is, but i will let you know as soon as i get the pencil and the other stuff together. I'm feeling gd about this and like i told djbbenn i'm not lookin for that much more on voltage, just enough to get my clock to 560 only like .4 volt i think. i'll have to do a bit more reading, techpowerup have a very detailed guide on doing the mod so yeh.

X800pro Artic Cooler 4

You might wanna double check to make sure cooler not touching anything else but gpu and memory and once again use some good goo that always helps. I used Artic Silver 5 on mine. I have a non vivo pro but with 2.0ns ram and I get 570/574 stable. I have pretty good luck on oc'ing Saphire cards. Try swapping your card and a friends card and see what it does in your system and try some optimized drivers and I think that may help some also. I use the ngohq drivers. Let us know what happens and oh I did not do any mods at all mainly because I can not afford another card.

did the vmod finish sucesfull or wat????????? because i can get 570/615 on mine on the stock cooler runing 100% . i also have some ram sinks on the mem and also 2 x 80mm case fans siting on top of the heat sinks . anyway let us know how ur mod was

i havn't actually tried the mod yet, i just keep forgetting to buy the damn pencil and lecky tape. lol. i will hopefully get round to it at somepoint this week i'll keep you posted when i do.
