Hi,
I was wondering if the feature in the ATi Tool that lets you find max core and max memory speeds is dependant on a temperature sensor on the card? OR does it just keep going up untill artifacts occur, then scale down?

Wanting to know because my card doesnt have a temp sensor (Powercolor9550SE) and i want to clock it .. . yet if it it is sensor dependant then it wont stop . . . burn the card out?

Thanks

By right, find max for core and memory speed will stop when artifacts occur. You need to set it lower a bit for stability.

But, don't let it run find max for core and memory speed without you next to pc. Some reported burn graphics card because let the find max for core and memory speed without watching it.

Regards,
Arto.

Good to know Arto, I've never heard of anyone burning up their cards, but having crashes, restarts, BSOD's, VPU resets, etc for sure. My 9600pro and x850xtpe both worked fine with find max gpu/mem. But as many know, don't try it with an x1950 series. I guess it goes to show that results may vary. Personally I like to manually OC my card like I do my CPU, and do testing using artifact scanner and 3d benchmarks.

The Best artifact detector is your own eye, dont trust the system. Let it run til you see artifacts, and control it yourself from there.
