Hmm.. Does it show all BIOS information? I have a feeling from looking at the bios that there is something missing. What was edited in the BIOS to unlock the extra pipes? Sorry i haven't had a chance to compare the hacked/unlocked bios and the original bios to see for myself yet.

I guess i am really looking for any type of checksum and device ID calling to see how the driver interfaces. I also wonder if the VPU has a bit of ROM in it itself. A lot of ASICs have programmable "fuses" also.. We really need to plant a Mole inside of ATI and get some lower level information!

I just got this card from Newegg, and the red F's don't show up in ATItool. Am I stuck with 12 pipes? Any help is appreciated.

i think you are looking for the F in general.. i think the RED color was added to point out where and what to look for.

I may be missing something here but why is it that people flash the same card using different bios's. I see some ppl use x850 xt bios, some use x800 xt.

Which bios is the best to use? x800 xt, x800 xt pe, x850 xt, or x850 xt pe. Sorry im just kinda new to bios flashing.

x800xt(pe) will not work. Whoever said they used that was either wrong or was doing a different flash (from x800pro). You must use x850xt(pe) from x800gto2 the only difference between the xt and the xt pe is the clocks but you can change them in RaBiT anyway so the only difference is what you want the driver to call the card.

Ok thanks for clearing that up

The article said it was the same core they use on the x850 family so that is why I chose the
x850 bios over the x800.
I had done some testing overclocking it b4 hand and it would easily do the xt speeds and beond so I picked the xt bios because it had the clock speeds I wanted. My card could do the xt pe speeds but I did not feel the need to push it quite that far.
good luck

Ah, thanks. I'm kinda scared to do this bios flash, since I've never done one for a vc. Anyway, I noticed this card went from $199 to $299 at newegg in the past few days.

Just make sure you have a normal pci vid card lying around just in case. The first time I tried
it I got nothing but a black screen and had to folow instructions from this website to put in
a pci vid card so you can fix it and it fixed it.
I asked questions here about what might be the problem and people helped me right away and then I tried another bios and that one flashed just fine.
I guess the only other thing is it is nice to be on a battery backup just in case the
power goes out.
I was nervous when it went wrong but I am very happy I tried again.
Good luck

Got it to work right the first time. Smokin along at 540/1180. X850XT PE specs I believe. I did install the ATI silencer 5 rev.2 before ever using the card. If anyone is wondering, it fits perfect other than the memory doesn't touch the heatsink unless you use the supplied thermal pads. I tried using Artic Silver, but there was still a gap.

I'll let you know as soon as I get my Silencer 5 version 2.0 in the mail.

http://www.case-mod.com/store/arctic-cooling-ati-silencer-rev-revision-101405-p-1638.html

Caught it on sale for $27.88. Someone else told me they bought the same card and it fits and works fine.
