ok, here's a list of the hardware:

ThermalTake's PurePower W0100RU
ASUS p5b deluxe wifi/ap
Intel CPU Core 2 Duo E6420
OCZ OCZ28002048ELDCGE-K 2GB Kit DDR2-800 PC2-6400 Enhanced Latency Gold Edition
eVGA e-GeForce 7300 GT PCI Express 256MB DDR2 Video Card
Kingwin AS-3000 AquaStar Liquid Cooling System

I turn her on and I get nothing but the whirring sounds of the fans spinning... (fans on the video card and the mobo)...

both screens are black with "no signal" (i hooked both my lcds up to the dvi and vga outputs on the vc)

and an interesting thing I noticed is that the "power led" on the asus board is blue when the supply is hooked up and when I hit the power button, the manual says it's supposed to turn red, which technically it does, but the blue doesnt go out... should it?

this problem, whatever it is, is driving me nuts :banghead:. I'm out 200 bucks after replacing the mobo which I thought was busted, and now I'm suspecting the video card.

no beeps on bootup whatsoever, which I cant understand...

the video card is my #1 suspect at the moment... i bought it from zipzoomfly and it was on the top of the packaging with a box that looked a lil beat up.... cool huh?

if anyone has any ideas or suggestions lemme know, other than those involving a baseball bat or .40 (which is what's currently on my mind)...

thanks

Is your PSU strong enough to power everything?

Failing that I would be looking towards either a faulty board or graphics card. Do you have any other graphics cards knocking around you could test?

Do the fans turn on then turn off? Or do they just stay on?

I'm guessing this is a new build....

Did you use motherboard spacers? Try each RAM stick by itself, 4-pin motherboard power...

If all else fails, disconnect your ide drives and cd/floppy and try with 1 stick of RAM

If its NOT a new build, I would reset the CMOS...

its your ram. Do what Damulta said. Then Try only one, both, different locations everything. Also Take them both out and boot and see if its the same symtoms.

also go ahead and try taking out your video card and using onboard video if you have it

Try resetting CMOS by setting the jumper to pins 2-3 and removing the CMOS battery for approx 30 mins. Also use one stick of memory, see if that helps. I had booting issues with my P5B Deluxe, turned out to be memory going bad. Hope this is not your case! But this board has been picky for some using certain memory, require either a cheaper stick of like DDR2533 to get into Bios and set info for performance memory or booting with one stick of performance memory. Also if using one stick it has to be in one of the first two DIMMS (first two on left), otherwise it won't be recognized (read in MB Owners Manual about that rule if needed).

I hope that helps, that worked for me a couple times until my memory fully took a crap. As I said before I hope that's not your case, but if I were you, if this does get you booted up and running, the first thing you should do is run Memtest just to be on the safe side! Also, I got no video display or response, fans were running, no POST, no Beeps when I was having my issues, which is pretty similar to your problems. Hope what I suggested helps! :toast:

This is what me and the crew call the "no error-error" we get it all the time and know how to fix it. Its 1 of normally 4 things. 1. Ram. Just keep swappin like I said. 2. Video card, try a junk one, check for BIOS beep like Looooong short short, thats incompatibility for video. Or its just junk. 3. PSU. Check all the wires, check if your 4 pin isn't plugged in, loose wires, bad wires, junk psu. 4. This is rare but it happens, If you get a conductive thermalpaste on your CPU pins, it does it. Clean it off with an alcohol rub and it works.

I had this exact same thing happen to my PC with the new build... its the ram I am pretty sure.

wow, you guys are great. all these replies!
I'm happy to say that you're all right on the money. t'was the ram! the asus boards apparently don't mingle with ocz memory at all unless you tweak the voltages... i was mislead by somone who managed to get this type of ram working after using other ram to get into the bios (which i didnt know) and tweak the voltages like i mentioned, then use the ocz ram. I was wondering how the hell you could access the bios setting if the ram wasn't working haha... man I was ready to chalk this whole project up and forget about it, I'm outta money, but at least I'm only 100bucks shy or so of a fully functional computer...

I have another question though:

I'm obviously new to the community, but what type of risks am I taking in stepping up the voltages on my ram stix by ~2-3 tenths of a volt? I see on a few forums here n there that the ocz ram works @ around 2v, where the default voltage is ~1.85v. sound about right?

I assume my ram will run a little hotter, which obviously decreases overall lifespan, but do any of you have stability @ 2+v? gotta ask

thanks agian for all the help!!!

you're just fine upping the voltage there as long as the ram supports it :) and yeah you pretty much answered your own questions lol, mainly just lifespan being effected...
with the upped voltage you should be able to overclock them as well as more power provides more stability at higher clock speeds, run memtest or if your mobo has an integrated memtest like mine do that and as long as you're not getting errors (which you shouldn't be after just upping the voltage that much) then you're fine!

good luck to ya and keep us posted :toast:
