Hi All,
Looks like I'm in trouble and I need some help

My card reach very high temperature (92C+) according to the TRIXX during operation of very simple actions.

When I am in pure IDLE state the temperature 56C practicaly doing nothing. when I have the smallest action (jump on the TRIXX to Menu->General->Memu->Monitoring the temperature jumps in 4-5 degrees then after 10 sec drop 2 degrees and then very slow (3-4 min) go back to stable state 56C.

1) Is this normal ?
2) What is the noraml temperature the card should be working in ?
3) what is the MAX temperature allowed ?
4) A series of very small actions cause the card to over heat to above 90C, what is wrong ?

Note: No Over Clocking nor game had been activated !!!

I just installed a new PC (CPU - AMD 939 3000+, MotherBord -DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultar-D, O/S XP PRO).
I also checked the results with ATITOOL and the results are identical (not to mention that simple 3D test raise the tempatuer above 90C in 3-4 min)

Thanks

MAT

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
You sure that is C and not F?

Mine runs about 30ish C idle and now no more than 44 in the most demanding situation. Anything over about 49 was causing lockups.

Good point

What is the default for the TRIXX or ATITOOL [I assumed it is C (Celsius)] ?

yes i think it would be Fahrenheit also (F) because at 90ºC (~195ºF) that chip would probably melt...

FYI
The official ans I got from the support was:
The maximum temp of this VPU is approx 110 C. If the card is not showing any artifacts or defects in 3D rendering then your card is not faulty.

Are you sure video card cooler is working how it's should work?
My x850xt@pe had same problem(after bios flash) Cooler worked at 30% always no matter how hot card was. So i use atitool to adjust when temp rise and cooler should speed up.
"Like if temperature rises 70c cooler speeds up 80%"

As I recall the ultimate uses the heatpipe no fan solution, and does tend to run hotter. If your case has poor ventilation this could also increase your temps. I recommend either add a fan in a nearby expansions slot, or go with an aftermarket cooler the Zalman 700cu, or AOC ATI Silencer 5 revision 2. Oh and don't overclock until better cooling.

My X800XL Silentpipe gets 80C on full load, even if my systemp is only 31C :/

Cooling workaround for X800 ultimate

Hi

Thanks for the tips, U R correct the ultimate uses the heatpipe & not a fan solution.

Since silence is also improtant to me & I use Sonata II case (very ventilated),
Are you familiar with an external cooler that can be connect to the power control ?

in other words should I go for ,something like, GlacialTech GT-F1 PCI 2 fans Cooler (only 15DB and cost senificent less then the ATI fan solution;) ), or you have another suggestion for a fan that can be pluged to the ATI power ?

Thanks

Mat
