MSI X38 board pictured

While the P35 chipset has spawned a lot of high-end board, Intel's X38 part was actually meant to be used in the ultra high-end. MSI is one of the first to jump the gun, with a detailed picture of the upcoming flagship Intel based product. The interesting aspect are the four PCIe slots for Quad Crossfire.

Cool i hope these dual ram (ddr2+ddr3) perform/overclock as well as the individual ddr2+3 boards, looks like theres been no progress on the rumoured sli support though, hopefully there will be hacked (and supported this time) drivers

only 1 pc1 slot!? and if you use it, you wont be able to put a card in the pci-x slot above it

Stupid layout and design, why not just go DDR3, and make the board a bit longer for a useful PCI slot? Or kill the fourth PCI-e and put a PCI there so you can run crossfire with one for physics?

Wow already, here's an idea MSI, why not fix existing problems with the P35 Platinum and just about every other MB in your line up before putting out any more garbage on the market.

Nah gigabyte is acutally the first to hand out samples to SOME reviewers. MSI only annouced it first though.

I totally agree - if that mobo is all quad'd out there will be hardly any room for an XFi to slip into the PCI slot.

Unless creative have come out with a PCI X1 version of the XFi which they probably no doubt will in the future.

ZOMG, that board is awesome, even if its an Intel board. 4 PCIe 2.0 16x slots for crossfire with 4x/4x lanes? I dont know if I saw a single PCI slot on there at all, but the board looks to include everything but HDMI. Built in XFI sound (sweet, though the noise could still be there) firewire, usb and if Im not mistaken eSATA.

Alright, so since PCIe 2.0 = 2x PCIe 1.0 in lane bandwidth, that means that we are looking at Dual-PCIe x32 slots, and Dual-PCIe x8 slots.
Right now, that is good enough for Quad-SLi.
