QNAP Launches High-speed Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 PCIe card for NAS and PC

Stepping into the Wi-Fi 6 era, QNAP Systems, Inc., a leading computing, networking and storage solution innovator, today released the QXP-W6-AX200 dual band Wi-Fi 6 PCIe network card for NAS and PC. The QXP-W6-AX200 supports the IEEE 802.11ax standard (backward compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac), MIMO 2Tx2R, MU-MIMO TX/RX, and can be installed in a QNAP NAS, or Windows /Linux PC to provide fast Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. When installed in a Windows PC, the QXP-W6-AX200 also provides Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

The QXP-W6-AX200 is a PCIe Gen 2x1 Wi-Fi 6 adapter with an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 module, providing speeds of up to 2400 Mbps - significantly faster than Wi-Fi 5. The new antenna design supports dual band 802.11ax 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and the multiple angle tilt and magnetic base provides the best signal strength direction and location.

The QXP-W6-AX200 allows a QNAP NAS to break free from Ethernet cables, or it can be installed in a Windows or Linux PC for faster downloading speeds and low-latency connectivity. In addition, when installed in a Windows PC, the QXP-W6-AX200 provides Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, improving the speed and active range for communicating with compatible devices.

A driver is required when the QXP-W6-AX200 is used in a PC/Server. Use the following links to download for Windows and Linux. A driver is not required when the QXP-W6-AX200 is used in a QNAP NAS.

It annoys me how basically every piece of wifi hardware never comes close to achieving the speeds claimed... Wifi6 claims 4.8Gbps, but every review, even with a Wifi6 receiver usually acievs just under 1Gbos, 1.2Gbps at best, even with the router right next to the receiver.... Is that the Aorus logo on the back of that wifi card?

Although I did ask an ex colleague about this and he pretty much said that QNAP is selling the Gigabyte card as is, as some kind of weird partnership. (weird being my take on it)

Zero it seems, Gigabyte charges NT$1,590 for their GC-WBAX200 card in Taiwan and QNAP charges the same for these. Or about US$54. About US$3.50 less than what MSI charges for their Intel based card and $14 less than Asus.

£23 for a nice intel card. i use my asus PCIe card that came with my motherboard, and use one of these cards in it.

That's pretty funny, the Gigabyte version was sold out on Amazon for months. I wanted one for my son's rig, finally gave up and grabbed the MSI version for a few bucks more. Overall, I can't complain but I'm not blown away either. Wifi6 in my home environment doesn't seem any better than Wifi5 was.

I modded the main PCB to return the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth LEDS. It has been removed by Gigabyte to cut cost.

EDIT: I also fitted new capacitors that almost match the voltage output.

I have 3 of these running off my kids PC's. Cheapest version I have found and the heatsink is low profile enough that it will not hit the video card. I bought one from another brand on amazon and the heatsink prevents install. All 3 are consistent speed wise and I used the standard intel AX200 drivers. I did not install the USB cable as I did not need bluetooth (cable only powers BT)

Dude, there are two kinds of M.2 slots and most motherboards don't have the kind you can put that card into. You're going to have to be a lot more specific. Asrock has a couple of models it'd work with, but I've not seen any Asus consumer boards that can be fitted with one.

Agreed but that's left as an exercise to the reader. The point is that these adapters *can* be put into desktop, just need the right type of motherboard.
