I think they do have locked multipliers if I remember correctly? I think the 144 is locked at 9? 1.8GHz. I'm not entirely sure though. If you have a good mobo you just might be able to run 300FSB though, no matter how crazy it is... ;)

Yes they have. just like venice core multiplier is locked. You can lower it but upwards it's locked.

144 = 9x
146 = 10x
148 = 11x
150 = 12x

I tested my mobo and it's max stable HTT is 356 Mhz.

Alright thanks guys, that's what I figured. With the setup I'm planning on using I should be okay. I might just go ahead and get a 146 though since they're in stock and the 144s arent.

300 fsb on a .90 silicon cpu is real easy.

Im doin over 300 fsb on an orig Clawhammer (crappy mem controller)...

a lot depends on the mobo, if it isn't DFI you are ripping yourself off. No other brand is nearly as good for clockin, not even close.

Opteron 146 @ 2.8 put my score up by about 200 ish,

New cpu dont make alot of diff to 3dmark score, not cpu insensive.

cs source, it makes a BIIIG diff for me.
Before 140 fps, now 180-200+

Aquamark, well my score when up by 18k on that. I can now get 88k on aquamark which is a MASS improvement on my old 70k lol.
Aquamark uses more of the cpu to test.

I just got an Opteron 144 for kicks. My Sandy 4000 will go to 2.7 and no more so if I can get this to more than that I will be happy. I might have to look more at cooling though, although my Sandy gets no higher than 46degC with the Vapochill Low Noise...:) I will let yo uknow how it works out - should get it this week.

Well since I started this thread, I suppose I should say that my 146 got here yesterday. I'm waiting on the rest of my new parts to use it. It has the CABYE stepping so it should be a nice overclocker. I'm estimating 1-3 weeks before I get the rest of my parts.

i got my Opteron 146 a few weeks ago. CABYE 0540FPAW this chip is amazing, prime stable at 3.0 but needs about 1.6V. probably would do 2.8 at stock. they are in high demand and the newer CAB2E and CABGE are gonna start replacing them and they suck.

The CAB2E I got will do 2.5 at the moment, although I am having a problem as I am already at say 275HTT and have clocked down the RAM so it runs at approx 232mhz, but for some reason when I clock it down further the PC will not boot.....I think I need to play around with the timings or something but it is a bit annoying because I am not sure what is causing the problem. It could be that 2.5 is the limit for this one anyway of course, so its still not bad for a £80 processor.....I guess I need to spend more time on it although interestingly this processor at 2.5gig and ram at 232 actualyl gives better 3dmark benchmakrs than my Athlon 4000 at 2.7gig with 225 on the RAM.....weird huh?
