Club 3D HD 2900 GT 256MB GDDR3 Announced

Amsterdam, 01. October 2007, Club3D is preparing to ship yet another silently released ATI product - the Club3D HD 2900 GT video card (ordercode: X-G296). Featuring ATI R600 GPU, 240 stream processors and 256-bit 256MB GDDR3 memory this is another try for ATI to find market for its HD chips. The card will feature the same frequencies as the 2900 Pro - 600MHz for the GPU and 1600MHz for the memory and will cost $199.

no it's just not capable of hitting this market. so they shrink down a few specs and launch it cheaper.

If you look at the power connectors carefully it only has one 6pin. No 8pin = lesser power = lesser O.C.

I am either getting this or the Pro, it depends on funds, but both appear to be good buys and $200 is easier for me to swing ATM than $270+.

To me it seems the 2900pro would be comparable in the 1950 lineup as the XT, the 2900GT would seem to lineup as the 1950pro, with good power, features and good price/performance ratio. The 2900pro has it too, which makes the decision hard...

Think I am going to move to the "Darkside" and get a 2900XT, I like the performance and I have found one £50 ($100US) below normal retail which aint a lot more than the Pro in the UK, the Pro looks good but the little of it that I have seen written to date suggests overclocks to at least stock XT proportions but suggests nowhere near the 800+Mhz core level.

not a 2900XT overclocked it wont, check out the 2006 scores, of course it's not all about benchmarks, I may just stay as I am until November and then look at the 2950 plus the new NVidia offerings, the 8900 is sposed to be out by then also.

Truly remarkable. ATI usually follows the suit of a strong card with even better mid range offerings that you can oc alot better.

BTW, would this card be any good, since it's priced at roughly 165 euros here in Finland? Will the 240 shaders and 600/800 mhz clocks eat the performance, or will it still be fast enough for Crysis as an example? :rockout:
