Finally got 3dmark working properly. This is the best I have done so far. Anyone figure out how to up the voltages yet?

My 3DMark05/06 Freezes up when i try to start it :( (must be lack of support for HD2900PRO?)

Was there a file that needed to be deleted to get this app running?
is it the "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Futuremark directcpll"?

Here is the fix:

Locate the file named Direcpll.dll using this folder path:
C:\Windows\System32\Futuremark\MSC\

Next rename or delete the file, like XXXDirecpll.dll

Mine did the same thing, I did what DaMulta suggested and added the -nosysteminfo after the shortcut target and that fixed it for me.

Did you flash it, it says XT.

Nice singal card score.

No flash, thats the wierd part. Everything says XT, from CCC to hardware manager...also ran 7.8 drivers on that run

Mine runs 75-78C full load (cpu and gpu, extended period) which is a real bummer as I probably won't be able to OC (or flash) until this winter. I blame it on the case with only 1 x80mm on the side

Must be the 7.8 drivers. I'm downloading 7.10 at home. Maybe I can get off early today....

I ran a run with CCC before I left at 858/1000 before I left and it was stable.

I played Quake Wars last night settings at 1280x1024 16x AA 16X AF Adaptive AA(Doubles AA), and mip map on high quality clock at 800/1000. The game ran smooth:)

Will flashing the Pro to an XT raise the GPU voltage? Also what are the stock mem speeds for the xt, 1000? If so I may not be able to flash since it seems like my mem tops out at 945 on stock voltage. Can you edit the bios clocks before flashing?

Where's that damn thread showing the 6 and 8 pin configurations? My Hiper PSU came with a "Y" (2 4-pin molex to one 6 pin), but the center +12v pin is blank!!! The cable to the PSU has that pin (WTF???) :banghead:

Damulta - did you flash? Those clocks are GREAT.

Christ! those clocks are amazing!

What do you reckon is the "safe zone" within OC'ing the HD2900PRO?

My AMDGPUClockTool just froze at 620/820 Got a "not responding". Im keeping the Artifact scanner in the background, going 5mhz up every 1 min. And im updating with GPU-Z to see if the Clock's are set. Any better tips on how to be REALLY sure your not overcooking it?

Ended up with these scores and Clock's:
3DMark05 - 10722 640/840
3DMark06 - 7149 635/835 (got artifacts in Firefly for some reason so downed 5mhz and it went stable aagain)

DAMN!

How about temps (and which case do you have)?

Mine heats up so much at stock speeds its unreal. 75C loaded doesn't leave much room for an oc :(

Once the snow flies, I'll tweak it and find the right speed (and flash it)...problem is every summer I'll have to flash it back :banghead:

or buy a decent air cooler (current LC pump can't take another block)...maybe that's how I'll waste some time today at work :D

At 860 the cores hits a max of 45 C in 3dmark06, idle is ~38. The Maze 4 must be doing a pretty good job. I should have tried my card out on air first, but I was too lazy to put it in, take it out, put it in ect. I have an Antec 900 and theres a 120mm fan blowing right onto the card. I have touched the PCB heat spreader and its barely warm. I am really glad I got the 900, it does an awesome job of keeping everything cool.

And the verdict... HD2900Pro. I don't have an 8-pin connector, so here are single card, stock speed results

System load during 3DMark06 = 360W (HD2900Pro)
System load during 3DMark06 = 330W (X1950XTX)

One thing I noticed and perhaps it's just the increased frame rate... the images in 3DMark06 look awesome!!! Thats about a 40% increase over the OC'd X1950XTX.

sasqui when I get home, i'll post the pic of the 8-pin 'adapter' i made...

I basically took an AUX CPU 12V adapter (4-pin), cut the 4-pin out completely (saving the pins - don't bend them or break them)...I then removed the yellow wire, leaving only 2 black wires (one side was the molex, the other side was 2 bare pins). You slide the two ground pins into the open spot on the 8-pin and you're done...

I took pics of the connection, but they're at home...I'll post them later tonight

Why not skip the 8-pin and just use ATI tool? Do you just prefer to do it through CCC or something? I am using 2 6 pins and its working great.

And not just a normal lockup, or crash, the damn thing freezes my whole comp

Figured it would, the release date is older than the 2900XT's

I would love it for temp monitoring...

Hijack warning

Anyone know a good air cooler for this beast? Must....Over.....clock....

lol not really at all.

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=25995

a 4.2GHZ connie paried with a slightly clocked 2900 gets well over 13K and many have been getting their pros to well over 850 core 999 mem (fastest performance mem before hitting 1100). and with the latest drivers, the 2900's are closing in on the gtx and have left the gts behind.

Exactly! thats where I'm coming from, plus I have not had an ATI card for over a year.

Well IDK why it won't work for you guys but it works great with my 1GB card. I have the Sapphire 1GB version and ATI tool 2.7 beta 2 is what I have used to get my overclock. Maybe we are using different drivers? I am using XP, are you guys using Vista or something?

flash in dos

We will see a flash tonight

Did Winflash not work? I am knackered if it dont so probably wont get one cause I am not going to reformat 2 hardrives just for the pleasure....I need to see a single card max overclocked with a C2D at high speed to see if it will give me 13000 points or more otherwise it aint really worth me changing

Edit: In winflash you should have clicked the R600 not the 2900pro, it will recognise R600.

Finally got 3dmark working properly. This is the best I have done so far. Anyone figure out how to up the voltages yet?

hmmmmm thats about what I get with the 8800GTS but is does take me a lot more CPU speed to acheive that.

Haha I should jack my CPU up to 4.2 and see what I can get. I wish I could get more out of the memory. 43% GPU overclock and barely any on the mem. Has anyone figured out how a way to raise the voltage (without a hard mod)?

Flash the card, rumour has it that you will get the increased voltage, if you dont you can still only gain....why? well......

1. Your card will be set at XT stock speeds soo less messing with your overclocks
2. You now have an XT that you can sell on fleabay for $200 more than you paid for the Pro!!!!!...........bonus......................:)

2. You now have an XT that you can sell on fleabay for $200 more than you paid for the Pro!!!!!...........bonus......................:)
