Colorful started selling its top custom-design GeForce RTX 4070 "Ada" graphics card, the RTX 4070 Neptune OC-V. This card was announced along with Colorful's other custom-design RTX 4070 cards, but the company at the time didn't share availability details for the card. We now know that it is priced at a whopping $829.99, or a 38% premium over the $600 NVIDIA MSRP for the RTX 4070. This price puts it in the territory of custom-design GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, as well as Radeon RX 7900 XT.

What do you get for the premium? For starters, its most striking feature is its all-in-one, closed-loop liquid cooling solution. At the card's end, the cooler consists of a pump-block, with a copper base-plate pulling in heat from the memory and VRM, and transferring it onto the main block. This end of the cooler is piped to a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator. From the looks of it, DeepCool is the OEM of this cooler. The PCB features a 16-pin 12VHPWR power connector, a 14+3 phase VRM, and Colorful dialed up power limits to 230 W (from 200 W). Out of the box, the card has a boost frequency of 2640 MHz, compared to 2475 MHz reference. But even so, why? Colorful prides itself in making some of the most over-the-top madcap custom-design graphics cards, because someone has to!

What the actual f*** is Colorful thinking! You don't slap on a water cooler and jack the MSRP up $230.
That's $30 more than the MSRP of a RTX 4070 Ti which has 30% more shaders, RT Cores and Tensor Cores than the 4070

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

One look at that janky tubing set-up tells me that color_full_of_themselves don't believe in investing in any real engineering talent to design their cards with aftermarket cooling.....

All they needed to do is offset one of the pipes a tad or make one of them a little longer, either of which would have eliminated the "one tube fightin the other one" or the need for a 2nd curved fitting mess that is shown here... but at least they are apparently able to rotate away from the side of the card...which could have caused some clearance issues in mid/small sized cases, so there's that :)

What the actual f*** is Colorful thinking! You don't slap on a water cooler and jack the MSRP up $230.

Apparently you do.

The water cooler might be worth $130. Even the old NZXT Kraken G12 GPU bracket and a compatible 240mm AIO cooler was about $100-110 for an ugly kludge. This is a pretty sleek integrated solution.

The white colorway is probably worth $100 to some. Combine the two and the $230 upcharge isn't so out of whack for today's PC marketplace.

I'm sure they will sell out of their initial production run. They might need to discount the price later but some people will pay at this release MSRP.

Agreed. This is the kind of product I will be purchasing in the future if flagship GPUs continue to be priced out of reach. The thermal solution is strong, power consumption in check, looks are great, and all that combined with a more generous power allowance might just give me a little taste of high end performance again.

I guess this watercooled RTX 4070 will hold its value better than the RTX 4070 Ti over the years. When newer gen GPUs are release, the performance gap between RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti will not seem that big anymore, but the watercool part and the tiny size is still attractive for people who want their PC/ ITX PC to be "pretty".

And a 165 mhz increase! Ain't to shabby if I was a looking for a 4070.

The problem isn't the price if you consider the price of the cooler, but to not see how stupid this product is you need to see this in a vacuum.
A 4070 card does not need water-cooling, it doesn't consume anywhere near enough power and if you do put it on you risk encroaching on the next tier.
Somehow powercolor went even beyond that.
I seriously question the intelligence of anyone who buys a 4070 for more than the price of a 4070Ti.
Even if it was made out of gold it would be a terrible buy.
