Actually people over 18 can do what ever they want, I heard that the rule only apply to kids
With the way the Correction is going on China I doubt most of these are being bought by people like you and me. I heard the rule applied to Online Gaming period. Let's also remember they also seized Mining when Bitcoin was approaching $50000.

Oh boy here we go. Getting personal LOL Touched a soft spot there I see NVIDIA fanboy. But just to entertain, I own NVIDIA and AMD gpu's. Great products, designed by their by engineers. Awful ethics on both sides as companies, but NVIDIA is the nastiest imo. Took advantage of the mining days to skyrocket GPU prices and kept the prices comfortably there, up in the sky. What used to cost $600-700 now costs $2000 just because. Same for AMD. No real reason in the manufacturing process, or cost for parts to increase prices. There you go.
At least AMD has more aggressive pricing but yeah, since prices in GPUs have skyrocketed in general, I somewhat understand that they also rised prices since consumers will still buy GPUs even though they're hella more expensive than like 5 years ago.

I'd say that for the consumer side, Nvidia's biggest problem is their product segment and their pricing, 600+ EUR for a 70 tier card is just pure robbery.

Isn't every company doing that, to even exist?
they're not all nasty though.

And that there is only from one acute angle to be fair to my personal perspective, I think they like Intel and Nintendo have occasionally done plenty to irritate consumers and fan's of Gaming IMHO

At last poster, great one that , not worth the reply that joke though.

Would it be hard for a manufacturer to take a 4090 replace a couple of chips and ending up with an h100 like Product

This isn't how Nvidia cards work, there's no chance you can just reflash a 4090 into a higher end AD102 product, especially considered the 4090 has the worst configuration of them by far

I'm sorry, while I have no insider knowledge, this rumour sounds a bit confected. Nvidia released a statement saying it wasn't concerned about the 4090 restrictions if they came in so...
Because it is affecting the raw AD102 silicon.
When AD102 at its original state, with its full potential, can be used in manufacturing products for AI/Enterprise/Military application, thus being restricted.
For the 4090 card, these capabilities of the AD102 inside had been physically fused/ limited by microcode, so it is a "Commercial Product"

So the manufacturers having their sites located in China cannot have the AD102 chips being exported and shipped to their doors anymore.
So they will have to relocate.
But before relocation, they want to utilize these final moments to put out as many 4090s as possible with existing facilities.

Who exactly is buying these GPUs if Gaming is basically incarcerated in China?
1.) it isn't but they still aren't the buyers.

2.) The buyers are big data farms.

and it is widely known that Western sanctions were completely ineffective at eroding the RUB
That's funny, as the currency ticker kind of tells the opposite story.

That should not be a problem for China. They will just do what they do best. Making copies of rtx 4090 as they do with so much else.

yep, copy and paste. I am guessing they already are back engineering ASML machines from the Netherlands faster than anyone expected too.

the free markets are such a scam and don't work at all. if they worked, we would have an affordable car to drive that had no luxury on it at all. 10k brand new, no thrills, manual powered windows, etc. i'd buy it, most people my age and in my pay range would probably buy it. there are a lot of us tired of driving clunkers that can't afford a new car and are tired of being scammed.

most of the free market is scams in my experience so far in life, sadly. no need for competition when you cash out on short term greed sales and then move on to something else.

There is so many rabbit holes that looking into this could unravel. I was watching a video on Youtube that said the Russian drones they get from Iran are now showing examples of Machine Learning.
No, their own - Lancet. It has Nvidia Jetson TX2 since the start but they have been adding software capability to it and yes, recent strike videos are showing automated target tracking in the final approach.

You can think what you want I personally upgraded many older GPU.
Nvidia locked the bios.
It got hacked and will further.

Because I know history. Japan colonise Manchouri pre ww2. And the west did the same everywhere they went. Not every country in the world has a history of colonialism and slavery, but the MSM and your school system won't teach you that.

literally every country is based on war and conquest, including your darling China.
MSM and schools do nothing else than demonize our own countries for what everyone else has done.
China is currently, yes RIGHT NOW, enslaving and genociding parts of their population while building a colonial empire in Africa.
Things only get worse for your argument the more you go back in history.

You could take your total horseshit to the dalai lama see if he agrees or the Philippines, or loads of places will teach you Actual history or what recently happened but none the less this is a tech forum not a CCP propaganda page.

Get on topic or visit X they like horseshit there.

If China could just copy a 4090 and manufacture it in mass production, why would this even be a topic in this forum? China does have microchip manufacturing capabilities. But to manufacture a microchip such as a GPU or CPU like Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD you need know how and special equipment. Taiwan is where NVIDIA has outsourced the making of their chips, as well as AMD for good reason (TSMC and Global Foundries). Though many products say "made in China", all China does is create the PCB or substrate, and IHS. They are not in charge of creating the actual chips for a good reason. Intellectual thievery. This is why Russia refused to sell the SU-35 to China, since they replicated the SU-33 to create the J-15. A complete knock-off. Funny thing is Russia makes fun of the J-15's inability to function off aircraft carriers due to their weight, and other flaws. Again, just because they can "copy" certain things, it does not mean they can copy all. Especially a GPU chip as complex as NVIDIA's 4090.

For a good reason. Even then, they are not able to create the machines themselves in the first place.
