Transformers director Michael Bay is "feeling Blu". The main reason is because he feels that his decision to release Transformers exclusively on HD-DVD was "short-sighted and it has delayed consumers' moving to HD. As a director, my critical eye is that Blu-ray is where my money is. Consumers are smart, and they are going to wait it out."

Regardless of where Michael Bay's money is, Paramount already announced incredible sales of the Transformers movie, on both HD-DVD and DVD.

I had to be forced to buy the HD version of it... Now, when the bluray version comes out I'll be going to Moviestop and trading the HD one in!

That, I have to go with you on... Time froze still when he said he would never do transformers again or anything bluray... And now look... I guess when you get paid like he does, a tool is something to deal with....

Michael Bay is not UWE Boll. No way he is even in the same shit category as him. Transformers was a kick ass movie and rocked. The original voice actors for some of the characters (Optimus Prime and Megatron) was just awesome. I hope he gets behind pt 2, because the first one was an absolute gem. Im everything transformers, had all the toys, all the comics, movies, etc. Watched all the cartoons (still do). I cant get enough. He did wonderful with it I must say. Sucks though, its not coming to Blu-Ray.

Wow, a few more minutes of milk sop. Count me in out. I just want to watch the freaking movie. And the addition of a internet connection to authorize me to watch a movie that I have paid of is out of the question.

You are kidding, right? I mean, sarcasm, right?

Michael Bay along with Uwe Boll is an insult to entire humanity.

i grew up on transformers. the movie did the cartoon justice. lots of action and a decent amount of childhood antics thrown in. bay is a great action genre director. he can visualize anything and put it on film. that is his artistic value. not every director needs to be sidney lumet or martin scorsese to be considered good.

this is NOT a place to debate the directing capabilities of michael bay, take that to the general nonsense forum. this IS a place to discuss the decision of said director to launch the movie exclusively on dvd and hd-dvd and then change his mind later.

the news forum has been getting som major trolls lately and it really needs to stop.

It wasn't his choice... Paramount had all the hands in this - and it was the right decision, you have to back the technology that is most viable and that is currently HD-DVD.

Now here is something to think about... It may not be coming to Blu-Ray "yet"? They can still make it a Blu-Ray movie for something else... The first Box set Blu-Ray? If nothing like that does happen then your are 100% right... it SUCKS...

Sooner or later one of them is going to sink, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, and there are going to be a lot of pissed off people. I really don't get why they would introduce two almost identical formats. It makes me not want to buy EITHER of them--until one dies.

I'd rather not have to pay SONY some amount for all of the disks I buy, I'd rather have some competition. I think Blu-Ray was just a marketing scam to get the PS3 to sell a little better. Now that HD-DVD players are 200 bucks, thats pointless.

I still keep to my sticks and say lets get rid of all this multi-layer crap all together and get a new write method, type whatever it may be and go back to single layer that doesn't seperate.

As for Bluray-HD....

Personally I don't care, I have HD because I got a REALLY good deal on a DVD player, and I buy very few HD movies...

HD does 3x layers vs 2x to get slightly more data space, and its a world cheaper than Bluray... So why in the world would anyone want to keep going Bluray, unless they one up HD again with adding another layer and dropping the price down to match....

Sony pictures is the only thing keeping bluray in existence really, people generally buy it expecting it to win and the ones that buy it thinking it will lose, are only buying it for Sony movies that only come on Bluray and no HD.

Look at it this way... Its just like VCR's and Batamax war... The VCR's came out on top to where the people who bought Batamax suffered because of buying that tech. Then you got the whole Minidisk era. That didn't last long at all, and look at all the people who may of bought into that? I for one was one.. People introduce things to see how the market reacts to the product. Also to see if someone can come up with a way to help that product out.
I am with you 100% on the whole Blu-ray thing. And, I have another thing about that. Why did Micheal Bay dump HD-DVD? Doesn't one of the biggest companies now own the rights to both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD? It may not be the "official rights" to it. But, they do have the rights to Making mech. to run it. Right?

See now thats the idea, your buying a PS3!

I'm considering buying a PS3 myself also, but definitely not for the bluray feature, but if I have it, I might as well use it.

Someone is going to win. And after them winning, everyone will have to go with it. Even if HD-DVD could win, I'll still own a Ps3 at some point. Just hope no one jumps the "band wagon" like Bay is....

Sounds like you are the tool...
You can't say it's not coming to blu...... and may I assume you are also happy about that fact that they DID NOT sell as many copies of the movie as they could have? The studio, the director, the employees, the consumers that wanted to watch it?

We shall see the effect on a company that chooses to exclusivly support a format that has about 1/2 the sales of the superior choice.
