ASUS ROG just published an interesting post on X/Twitter, previewing a future product: the ROG Mjolnir power station. This portable power solution aims to provide uninterrupted gaming experiences, even in outdoor settings. The ROG Mjolnir boasts interesting features catering to modern outdoorsy gamers' needs. It has four power outlets, allowing users to simultaneously power multiple devices such as gaming laptops, monitors, and peripherals. Additionally, the power station includes two USB Type-A and two USB Type-C ports, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of gaming accessories. Using Nordic mythology as inspiration, the ROG Mjolnir's design pays homage to Thor's hammer, Mjölnir. The sleek and rugged exterior not only looks impressive but also promises durability for outdoor use. As an added bonus, the handle of the power station doubles as a torch or light source, providing convenience in low-light environments.

While ASUS has not yet disclosed the specific capacity options or pricing details for the ROG Mjolnir, the company has confirmed that it will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Computex 2024 event in Taiwan. Gamers can expect to learn more about this interesting power station during the event, which is set to commence on June 4th. With the ROG Mjolnir, ASUS aims to provide gamers with a reliable and portable power solution that complements their gaming on-the-go lifestyle. An interesting quote from legendary Stan Lee is suitable here, which many Marvel universe fans might appreciate: "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

What a joke of design, anyone with even slightest wet hands is going to have difficulty in gripping that "handle". Given the Shitsus RoGarbage tax and tendency of their products to catch on fire, I would much rather get my portably power/UPS from Anker, Ugreen, Nitecore and others than this overpriced explosive device.

Looks like it's a speaker too.

That handle better fold or be removable.

If you're gripping a power supply with wet hands, you get what you get.

Concerning the handle:
I'm thinking it looks like something wi-fi related - Relay/Range extender maybe?

I can't believe it's not a joke. Can I at least absorb lightning energy with this, Asus? :D
Well, the 1.5" thick antenna would suggest so. Hearing protection and/or sunglasses are recommended if you'll be sitting next to it.

Oh, Great.
Yet another good idea turned into a joke.

At least it wasn't too high-effort, I guess...
a Computing/Gamer focused portable power unit should have both 220-240VAC IEC receptacles and 100-120VAC NEMA receptacles + a 250+W 18.5-20VDC out for desktop replacement laptops.

What voltage do IEC connectors (you probably mean the C13/C14 type) carry in the US? Is it always 240V or is it RTFM?

IEC Plug/Receptacles (yes, the C13/14 'kettle cord standard') can be any mains voltage.
In the US there's some oddities in how we rate the interface's ampacity but, otherwise they can be expected to carry:

Single/Split-Phase - 110-125VAC 60hz - L/N/PE

Three-Phase - ~208VAC 60hz - La/Lb/PE

'Full' Single-Phase 220-250VAC 60hz - L1/L2/PE

I run most of my equipment off "Full Phase" North American 220-240VAC 60hz (former Cadet in-wall heater circuit). Ended up 'deep diving' those standards when I purchased my 208-250VAC PDUs, etc.
@ >208VAC the APFC/input stage(s) in a PSU will have 'longer' holdup time, and nominally better efficiency.
Plus, it's a big (little) middle finger to the whole world, that thinks the US is a 110-120VAC country; we're not, we're 220-240VAC mains.

What bugs me about this is that it could be a great product. Having a mobile battery bank that can handle widely changing loads and with enough capacity to run a full gaming rig would be super appealing, especially with the backing of a name-brand like asus, but odds are it's just gonna be another custom case on a barely-changed OEM platform. It feels like so many products and so much of media these days is all hype-based and fad-driven rather than focusing on anything with staying power and the people hurt the most are the ones actually producing stuff. I got a few friends who work their "dream" jobs in design and production and more than ever before they say it feels like they're stifled creatively or at risk of losing their jobs on a weekly basis.
