However it happened, NVIDIA officially earned $1.12 billion USD of revenue in the third fiscal quarter alone. NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang had this to say in regards to their recent success:
We are very proud to have achieved our first billion dollar quarter. And, while it is a wonderful milestone to reach, we believe this is just the beginning. Our core businesses are continuing to grow as the GPU becomes increasingly central to today's computing experience in both the consumer and professional market segments.
This milestone is not only the first time NVIDIA has earned more than 1 billion dollars in one quarter, it's the first time any discrete graphics card manufacturer has earned 1 billion dollars in one quarter. NVIDIA attributes their extremely successful quarter to a 33% increase in desktop GPU sales, a 120% in notebook GPU sales, competitive products, and that "the way it's meant to be played" campaign, which has been seen in such blockbuster titles as BioShock and the soon-to-be-released Crysis.

I'm pretty sure Nvidia was counting BFG, eVGA, XFX, etc..

Nah bud, their revenue would be based on their own chip sales not on the actually graphics cards that the manufacturers make and sell

OK, so they made a fooking BILLION in one quarter. Would I say they are a good company? Yes I would. Would I say they are a great company? NO I would not. Why U ask? They have put out many graphics cards that are arguably rushed out the door. The FX, the 8000 series. From fudged drivers (FX) to no drivers (8000). Sure they make good mobo. chipsets. Prob. (at least until now that AMD bought ATi) the best in the business for the AMD cpu.

The games. Hasn't their been more then one "the way it's meant to be played" game that runs better if you changed the name of it's exe.?

nVidia, well for a lack of better words, and no fanboi'ism, I wouldn't consider them the most 'honest' BILLION dollar company out there. I like nVidia, but don't care to get hustled out of my hard earned dough.

AMD's 790's are on the horizon. Who knows? Maybe this is nVidia's 1 and only BILLION dollar quarter.

This really isn't that impressive, it's expected. As the market grows for PC Gaming and console gaming, so does their revenue. Seeing that the market is naturally growing, I would expect nothing less. The only thing I have to congratulate Nvidia on is getting to that point before ATI.

Good morning,
Thats what you get for selling so much "DX10" 8800's that wont actually run DX10. good job misleading the customers, NVidia.

I await 790FX and some ATI 38xx action.

He might of been talking about how MS rewrote the code because Nvidia couldn't do the DX10 standard.....might of been.

But it has already been done and they can run the new DX10 standard that is out now.

Troll?
From what ive seen so far, most users running new DX10 games on high settings, encounter sub-decent performance, even with some high-end specs. i agree this might be a result of some other factors too, like immature drivers and lack of DX10 coding experience from the programmers side, but the fact is, that the REAL DX10\10.1 content will require a more suited, mature gpu\architecture. only time could really tell, but IMO its a miss for the current 8800 lineup.

"NVIDIA Records First Billion Dollar Quarter"
a miss for the customers, that is

first of all every man has the right to say whats on his mind witout being called by names like "troll" .

if u think he is wrong just say so no need for insults .

second of all i really think nvidia wasent honest in this round as you may have heard , nvidia pulled a really nasty trick out of her sleeve http://www.techpowerup.com/?43827 i dont know about you but i dont share my respect for a company that makes that kind of moves.

third dont forget about nvidias promises for directx 10 , do you really think its fair for a customer to pay a great amount of money on one of the best or the best card there is and when he is all ready to enjoy his investment he finds out that crysis work like #$@% ?

so what is the point of buying the best card when you cant even play the latest game on a decent detail level ?

think about it......
