As it is commonly known SD cards are getting larger and larger in storage capacity and yet smaller in size. The Eye-Fi takes Secure Digital or SD memory a step further by building in Wi-Fi capabilities. The moment you walk in your home this little SD card can automatically transmit your photos from within your camera to your computer(via your wireless network). If you desire it can also simultaneously upload them to your favorite social networks. Now one would suspect that this leaves little room for pictures, but their is also 2GB of on-board memory. For those of you who ever said "Where is my USB cable?" This might just be for you. It has a MSRP of $100 USD, and might make a good holiday for any photo lovers. One can only imagine what other interesting uses this product will have with some modification.

Some specifications:

Features

* Uploads photos automatically from Eye-Fi Card inside your camera. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to your home network.
* Provides free and unlimited photo uploads to your computer and your favorite photo or social networking website via the Eye-Fi Service. Photo transmission is secure and private.

* Features Eye-Fi Manager for easy set-up of wireless network and photo upload preferences.
* Fits digital cameras that use SD memory cards.
* Offers 2 GB of memory to store photos on the card.
* Includes USB memory card reader to make set-up easy.

hack = bad lol.

how do we set security settings to it? WPA/WEP passkeys?

how is it powered? from the device its in? (so in a camera, the camera needs to be on for it to run?)

Read the post:
* Wi-Fi Security: Static WEP 40/104/128, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK

And you can bet it needs to be inside the camera, which powers it. Flash Memory only works with a host which provides the power.

I guess, since the camera can't see it's an Eye-Fi, you need to turn on "View" (lense closed) mode or something else to power it and to let it connect to your wifi.

Edit:
* Eye-Fi Card works with 802.11g, 802.11b and backwards-compatible 802.11n wireless networks
d'oh, it's better than my USB Wifi dongle haha
